Jade and I walked into school. Jade held my hand. We walked to our lockers.
"Jade..." Cat said.
"What?" Jade asked.
"If my brother lets us borrow his car, will you drive Tori and me to an old lady's house after school?" Cat asked.
"No," Jade said while I grabbed my books from my locker. We went to walk away until Tori grabbed Jade's arm.
"Wait, please? Cat's really sad because this actress passed away last night and..." Jade cut Tori off.
"Whoa?! She passed away just last night?" Jade asked with her arm around my waist while I played with her hair.
"Yeah," Cat said.
"Then yeah. Yeah, I'll drive you guys to her house," Jade said.
"Why'd you change your mind?" Tori asked.
"Because it's been less than twenty-four hours which means her spirit is still lingering. So I'll be able to breathe in the fumes of her soul," Jade said.
"Maybe there's a bus we can take," Tori said.
"No! No... I'll take you. We can leave after sundown," Jade said.
"Why can't we just go after school?" Tori asked.
"I don't like driving in the daylight," Jade said before we walked away.
Timeskip
Jade and I pulled up outside Tori's house where we were picking up Tori and Cat to go to some old woman's house. We'd picked Cat's brother's car up after school. Tori and Cat walked outside.
"Madison, get in the back with Cat," Tori said.
"Why should I?" I asked.
"I'm older so I get the front seat," Tori said. I went to move but Jade grabbed my thigh.
"Mads stays in the front or I don't drive," Jade said. Tori continued complaining so I got in the back sitting behind Jade's seat. We drove through LA.
"So Cat is there some reason your brother replaced this seatbelt with a rope?" Jade asked.
"No, he just loves rope," Cat said.
"What is that thing anyway?" Jade asked looking at Tori and Cat's science project.
"Oh, this is Cat's and my science project," Tori said.
"It's a robot that's hamster-powered," Cat said.
"See, mister hamster runs on this wheel. And that creates electromagnetic electricity. Which flows through this transformer and then powers the robot," Tori said.
"Isn't it cool?" Cat asked.
"I dunno, all I heard was "hamster hamster science science Tori's boring kill me," Jade said.
