After an awkward photo session with the newlyweds and a couple of social conversations with people Nikhil knew, Sharanya and Nikhil headed to the food counters.

Sharanya followed Nikhil with her plate as he went on curiously peeping into the chafing dishes. She couldn't get over that moment on the stage few minutes back when his hand had made a firm contact with the skin on her back. They had had a quick exchange of looks but had managed to ignore the fact afterwards.

Nikhil's hand had stayed their throughout, until they had walked off the stage.

The night was thankfully cool so Sharanya wasn't sweating in the heavy saree she had worn. And of course the blouse ensured good ventilation. Yet, a constant heat warmed her cheeks every time she thought of that touch.

"Take this," He suggested stuffing his mouth with a piece of paneer, pointing to the dish in front.

"You're not having non-veg today?" She asked scooping the Malabar coast mix vegetable gravy onto her plate instead of the regular paneer.

"It's a Thursday," he reminded her.

"Oh, I forgot! T-DAYS!" She mumbled.

They were halfway through their dinner at a table far from the crowd of people in the lawn, when Sharanya's eyes caught a crying little girl. She watched her for a few minutes before deciding to go and help her out. She wiped her hands, pushed her plate to the side and got up to walk towards the girl.

Nikhil watched her keenly as she walked up to the girl, knelt before her talking to her. He couldn't help when his gaze stuck to the enormous view of her back. His hand still felt the tingles, thinking of it. He blinked, chewing tastefully his mind slowly drifting to crude imaginations.

He cleared his mind as she began walking towards the table holding the little girl's hands.

"You want paneer?" Sharanya asked picking up a nice soft cube of paneer using the toothpick from his plate, the last one. Nikhil had saved that for the end.

The girl shook her head in a negative her cheeks red and eyes tired from all the crying. "Mumma," she whined, giving Nikhil a wary glance. She looked as though she would burst into tears again.

"Okay," Sharanya said placing back the paneer cube hanging from the edge of the toothpick back on his plate. "We will find your mumma. But first say hi to uncle Nikhil."

The girl looked at him with disapproval not saying anything. Her eyes staring at him. Nikhil sighed. Arrogant kids!

"I will go find her mumma for her." Sharanya said.

"Okay," Nikhil said, popping that piece of delicious paneer Tikka into his mouth, before that girl changed her mind.

Sharanya stared at him expectantly.

"What?" He frowned, relishing the pieces of paneer tikka.

"Care to come along? "She asked exasperated.
