Nikhil couldn't miss the gloom that had surrounded Sharanya after the whole scenario at hospital. She was quiet mostly and kept to herself. She was exhausted too. A day had passed. He couldn't believe he hadn't seen her smile once.

Sharanya's smile was like the rising of the sun. You couldn't have a day without it. There wasn't a day when he wouldn't see that smile. No matter how sad she was.

He had begun to worry about her. Gargi had flatly refused to meet her. He had heard Arun tell Sharanya to give Gargi sometime. Sharanya had passed him an understanding smile. He felt awful to see her crestfallen, struggling to keep herself together.

He stared at his cup of coffee lost in his thoughts. He knew she hadn't spoken to her brother yet. He had overheard her conversation with the flat owner. She had asked for two more days to revert with her final decision.

Nikhil needed to talk to her. She was clearly going through a lot from all ends. And instead of being on her side he had become one of those things troubling her.

"The coffee is going to be cold." He heard his mother say.

He looked up at her. "It's almost over," Saying that he finished the remaining that had indeed gone cold.

"Sharanya will be late?"

"Yes, I forgot to tell you. She just messaged some time back." He said picking up his cup walking over to the sink.

"Nikhil, "

"Hmm,"

"You have a headache?" Mrs Kumar asked. She had noticed his fingers going up to his forehead and temples time and again.

"Not as such, you know I won't say no to a head massage."

Mrs Kumar smiled. "I will heat the oil."

"No, don't. Just put it like that."

"Okay," she said.

Minutes later, Nikhil was seated on the wooden floor of his mother's room while his mother sat behind him on the bed, her fingertips massaging his scalp.

"You sorted it out with Sharanya?"

"Not yet.."

"It's high time. You must talk it out."

Nikhil huffed, "So I can't even stay angry with my own wife now?"

"You can be angry. But you can't stay angry for long. Whatever it is ...talk about it. As it is she's been miserable in the past two days. Gargi isn't talking to her. You aren't talking to her. She must be feeling so low. I wonder what went wrong."

"Maa, the problem with her is that she always tells everything to Gargi. She shares her problems with her but not me. I mean as the husband, shouldn't I know, if there is anything that's troubling her. She just doesn't tell me or trust me in those matters."

Mrs Kumar sighed. "Now I get it. You fought with her in that and probably she had argument with Gargi about that. Nikhil, give her some time. She has known Gargi for years and you for just months. It's natural if she prefers to tell her friend who has always been there for her instead of you."
