006| KNOWING A COCKY ASSHOLE AND A
DESIGNER ADDICT

~K O M I S O L A~

There was something else I loved about the rain.

When I was small, my mom would yell at me to come inside whenever it rained but I remained outside. Always.

I could breathe freely when I was under the rain.

And over time, I guess I just grew used to it.

Now, I cried in the rain.

Just like how I did outside today under the rain.

I flipped the pages of the book, resting on my arms and intently reading each word.

"What is that?" Emily asked. Hissing sounds could be heard from the sack.

"Snakes, they're snakes." Gehazi replied. Emily screamed and jumped back, holding a hand to her heart immediately.

"Goodness! Benjamin, take this thing away from this place now!" She called out to Gehazi's slave.

That was what I was doing before I decided to close it and stare into nothingness. And then a girl and a boy with contrasting heights walked into the Leisure Room.

Her scream was ear-piercing, so loud to the extent that her best friend scolded her. "Inaya, did you see a ghost? Why do you always scream like that? You don't know that it's not normal, ehn? Only mentally unstable people do that."

"Amir," she glanced at me, "are you saying that I'm mentally unstable?" She turned to Amir and then back at me.

That was when I recognized her.

She was Senior Inaya Asahd, the only female senior after Senior Oyindamola who always behaved like a bright ball of energy. Senior Inaya was everywhere. She was nice and caring, kind and generous, definitely not gentle but everyone also knew her for hunk best friend.

Senior Amir, the quiet one. He always walked beside Senior Inaya without saying any word while she greeted the whole population of Earth. Everyone loved them; Senior Inaya for her attitude and Senior Amir for his looks.

"Oh my God!" She squealed again. I think I'll soon go deaf. "Baby girl, is that a Drew hoodie?! Someone else in CH loves Drew?!" She exclaimed, almost sounded like she couldn't believe what she was seeing.

I didn't get the deal.

All my hoodies were from the Drew House.

It was then it caught my attention.

I was wearing a yellow Drew hoodie and she was wearing a white.

"I don't know who you are and I surely don't know your name but I LOVE YOU, baby girl!" She even came forward to hug me. "See Amir," she glanced at Amir and shook her head. "I told you, get those Drew hoodies. But no, you'll be carrying varsity jackets, joggers and Nike shoes up and down. See someone that dresses the same way as me. My role model!" She brought her hands to her cheeks and closed her eyes dreamily.

She almost made me smile.

Almost.

"Justin Bieber is my favorite artist!" She chirped happily. "What's your name? You are so pretty," she released me from the hug and beamed at me. "Wait you look familiar," she paused.

"Everybody looks familiar to you," Senior Amir muttered from where he was standing at the door. It was true. He was wearing a varsity jacket on his shirt.

That made me to smile a bit.

"Aren't you Komisola?"

My smile ceased.

And I paled.

She knew me.

Of course she did.

I was the famous incest breeder of the school.

I was the girl whose s*x tape with her popular brother leaked and was judged before hearing her side of the story.

I was the girl who was bullied by her parents and her school mates.

Even juniors made mockery of me.

"You're the one! I saw your-"

My blood ran cold. I stood up abruptly.

"Are you okay?" She asked, looking concerned.

"What did you see?" I ignored her question.

"I like your accent," she complimented, beaming once again at me. What accent? "I saw you running one time on the track field. I asked for your name and I was told Komisola. Ya Allah, you're good! Amazing!"

"You said you didn't know my name. You're lying." I took a step back.

"No, no," Senior Inaya waved her hands, trying to convince me. "That's what I thought too but who can forget a girl that runs like she's with the wind."

I discovered my love for running when I was ten. Before my life became a permanent shade of grey, I had little stripes of it in my white clouds.

Davies was always the favored one. But just a little more favored.

Every time we both got into an argument, I'd leave the house to either stay under the rain or run. Run away.

As far as I could.

I'd run for hours, down the street and continued to run till I thought I would get lost and my mother would yell at me once I walked back through the door.

It grew on me too.

"Inaya, let's go,"

I was brought back to reality, pulled from my train of thoughts and thrown into the bottomless pit called reality.

I stared at Senior Inaya. She was struggling to carry a guitar.

A guitar.

"I could help you with that,"

Her best friend, Senior Amir said but he made no move from where he stood. I was rendered confused. Senior Inaya was beaming at me again.

"Thank you very much, baby girl." She said to me and patted my shoulder. "I'll go and look for something else to carry."

I don't get.

Did I say I wanted to help?

"I can't believe you actually answered Lady Susan. I mean, obviously they're heavy instruments." Senior Amir grumbled and began to carry instruments that I would never dare to carry by himself.

By himself.

How-

"All those your biceps aren't for show, I believe." Senior Inaya scolded and rolled her eyes at Senior Amir. "Amir Abdallah-Aayan, if you don't want to help me carry this, then-"

"-Sheesh, I'm already carrying. Can't you see?" Senior Amir groaned and stopped once he got to the door.

"I love you, idiot!" Senior Inaya shouted and with her thumb and index finger, formed a heart at Senior Amir who smiled. A full blown smile.

"I know," his smile changed to a smirk and Senior Inaya's finger heart dropped.

"Cocky asshole," she muttered after he walked out of the door.

I stood there waiting for her to also leave but then I realized... I was the one who offered to help her.

Without even knowing that I was.

Why did I say that? I closed my eyes and fisted my palms, a habit I had become fond with recently.

"Oya, baby girl, let's go."

I turned to Senior Inaya. I glanced at my book, sitting there and calling my name but now I had to carry instruments.
