There was a hint of curiosity on her face.

I thought I saw it by mistake.

She wasn't even fazed when she saw me walking with her dad but she could be curious...?

Why do you like this girl, Hanniel?

I never said I liked her, she's just intriguing.

Sure, keep deceiving yourself.

My heart stopped beating for a moment when Grey eyes had outrightly denied me in front of everyone. Mum would be surprised.

But I would not lie, I did feel a huge pang of hurt in my chest.

"No. I don't know him."

My mind screamed a loud 'Ouch!' at that.

"You like her but she denied you?"

I nodded at Mum. "I'm off to my room."

I said that because Dad had walked into the massive living room, the look on his face as he saw me in the kitchen area was dimly lit by the purple lights.

"Hanniel," he greeted all smiles at me as he came to the kitchen. "G'day son."

"G'day Dad." I greeted back and took that as my cue to go to my room.

"Han, sweetheart. Won't you sit with your father?"

I understood what my mom meant and I shook my head immediately.

"No, thank you."

"What is that?" Dad asked as I began climbing up the stairs at the right side of the house.

"Do you care for some cookies?"

"I want."

Mum's genuine chuckle could be heard as I got to my room, "Of course!"

Dad ended up sleeping over and I went to school the next day as early as my first day.

"Mr Jarah is coming, everyone!" A girl announced and ran into the class. It was first period and the announcement of our form teacher had everyone dispersing to their seats. I watched in amusement as phones were hidden and chairs were returned to their original position. "He's coming with the Principal!" The girl shouted again.

A loud 'Jesus!' could be heard from the class and right at my front, Hassan knotted his tie in a second. The speed in which Ameenah wore her blazer was baffling.

Dabirah spat her chewing gum out.

That was surprising.

On cue, Principal Matthews who actually welcomed me with a smile when I entered into CH was no where to be found. That principal had been replaced with a stern looking Matthews.

As soon as he entered, a pink note was subtly slid onto my desk from my right side.

I blinked.

I turned to my right and saw Grey eyes staring at me.

She gestured to look inside the note and I looked away confusedly.
