"We don't know nun." Keke lies.

"Y'all know y'all ain't gotta lie fa ya sister. Imma find out anyways, I always do." I shrug.

"I have no idea whatchu talking about." Toya folds her arms.

"That's how y'all gone do me?" I scrunch my face up.

"Look, imma keep it ahundid witchu." She leans in and looks side to side. "Snitches get stitches."

"Girl who the hell told you that?" I look at her crazy.

"He not gone get it till he the one with stitches." Keke shakes her head.

"Y'all need to stay the hell away from Mercedes. What she been telling y'all?" I stare in disbelief.

"He real federal." Toya mumbles to Keke. She nods and looks me up and down, shaking her head.

By the time they get back to they parents they gon be throwing up they set.

Another reason for Mercedes' parents to hate me.

"Just tell me what y'all know." I sit down on the twin bed.

I gave them a guest room since they come over often. They got stickers on the walls and toys and shit in the closet I buy them.

"I don't know nun." Keke repeats.

They more solid then most grown niggas be in the interrogation room.

"Aight, it's fuck that McDonald's we was finna get." I shrug.

"We really don't know nothing." Toya's lip quivers.

"Nah nah, don't cry imma order y'all McDonald's right now Favorites." I rub her head.

"Okay." She smiles without a tear in sight.

Mercedes must've taught them how to run circles around me too.

"FRONT. DOOR." My alarm system alerts us.

"MERCEDES!?" I yell.

"YESSS!" Her voice screams back.

She walks upstairs into the guest bedroom, with a bag of McDonald's.

"Hm." She hands me the drinks.

"Fries hot." She blows on them.

"Where you been?" I mug her.

"Stopped by Moonshine's earlier." She lies.

"You been there since last night?" I ask.

"Yes." She shrugs.

"Okay." I chuckle.

"You see how it feel?" She laughs.

"Huh?"

"You was worried all night. Wondering if I'm getting my back blown out or laying somewhere face down inna ditch." She shakes her head.

"In reality I went home, but at least now you know what it feel like when you leave randomly in the night and I wake up alone. Pondering where you are." She explains.

I twist my lips to the side.

"I'm sor-"

"It's good, just remember this next time you leave in the middle of the night." She shrugs.
