One more look to last into forever,

As this dreary year will soon be silenced;

Knowing I may see you again never,

The voices in my mind still unbalanced:

In my eyes, you are like a frail photo;

Each time I gaze upon faded edges,

Ever dimmer your image does still grow,

Once perfect portraits become rough sketches:

Should I protect your picture for all time,

Resting in this frame though I have but one?

No, for it would do us both a great crime,

If because of you I shall find no one:

On the wall, your canvas yellows with age,

As your role in my life withdraws backstage.
