dear max,
today is day 185!! feels like
ages, huh? people say times funny like
that. like, any emotion makes time speed up. you know ? i just finished my project for school, its a visual aid of famous people. i did sophia, joint project with jade. but as shes suspended, im presenting it myself. i know youre thinking 'joan fallon smith ? talking to a whole class on her own ? no way.' and its true, im scared shitless. but i did the project of sophias old work. she loved IT, and its about historical heros. she saved everyone in that lab that day in 1984, so she deserves this. i dont think we'll get an A, but im not really caring abour my grades right now.

i'm scared for jade honestly. she's been very quiet and secretive, except around elevens where she's all over her. i don't think joyce and el have noticed, but jade has been spending so much time around jonathan and his friend argyle and they don't notice how she goes out with them sad and comes back smiling a dazed smile. it's scaring me honestly. her way of coping wasn't very. nice. she would lash out in school and punch people, even teachers. i'm scared for her safety, i don't want her becoming a drug addict, i'm just glad she doesn't do it all the time. i'm also mad at jonathan, why would he just let her ?! ugh i hate this,

i just care about seeing you soon, as mike is coming here to see will for summer break. im coming to hawkins. i really miss you, maxine mayfield. i do. and i know its been tough for you, and im sorry. i wish i could see you everyday. but atleast you get me for a summer. but im gonna miss it here in cali to be honest. you were right, the beaches are amazing. ive become kinda a swimming nerd if you think about it. i know things have been distant between us, you havent been sending letters for a while, and im worried. if anythings happened. i hope youre okay,max. i hope youre there to greet me at the airport.
