I sat down beside her, complete silence among us.

I opened my backpack and set out two chocolate milks.

I placed them in front of her.

She looked at me, mixed feelings on her makeup patted face.

"This is it. Don't do shit because you feel bad." She murmured.

"I'm being nice." I told her.

"Stop. Just don't. If you really wanna be nice shut your mouth." She glared and I smiled.

"As you wish." I whispered.

I rotated between watching her draw down notes, and paying attention.

"Miss Hanson?" The teacher called and she looked up, eyes wide.

"Y-yea?" She stuttered.

"Hall please." He smiled and she stood, walking out of the classroom.

I frowned, the ache in my chest knowing I've seen her when her face is bare.

She hides it better than I ever had.

Than I and my late sister.

I shut my eyes, suppressing the anxious feeling that swarmed me.

I heard her phone vibrate on the chair and I was tempted to see.

I was.

It wasn't right of me but I wanted nothing more than to kill that bastard of a man.

He was just like my father.

The only difference is I had my mom.

Had.

I wished I died the first time I tried.

I wouldn't spend my time drowning in guilt for my neighbor.

I wished I died the first time.

I'm too scared now.

I watched at lunch, seeing Ari walk out of the school, coming to her car which was across from mine.

Her car was torn down.

She closed the door, sipping on the milk I got her as she looked at me.

I blew out the smoke and she walked over slowly.

"Did you eat?" I asked, very quiet.

"Stop." She told me.

"Do you not like when people care?"

"I find it hard to trust people. You saw me and I want you to forget it." She smiled.

Fake.

"You walked over here." I said.

"Why do you smoke? That's not a cigarette though." She mumbled, curious.

"It's weed Ariella. It helps people but unfortunately it's an addictive substance." I tilted my head.

"Do you not care about yourself?" She asked.

"No." I whispered, holding her eyes.

Hers were warm. She was warm.

I was frozen, cold, distanced yet social enough to talk to her.

"Do you care about yourself?" I asked.

"Yes." She whispered, her voice coated with yearning for something.

"Kai?" She asked.

"What?" I answered.

"C-could I come over a-and maybe take an apple from you tonight?" She asked me, her eyes red.

She shut them, the blue orbs popping as the whites faltered with a pink shade.

"How about this," I grabbed her arms, positioning her so my back was against the car and I was blocking her from being seen, "I buy a pizza. You eat however much you need and we run it off?" I asked.

She looked... frightened.

"I heard your dad. You don't eat." I blinked.

"Run it off?" She asked.

"Yea, we can eat, I'll get you water and we can run. I'll go with you. I-I don't know what happens over there but I have an idea. As much as you hate it I understand." I told her.

"No. No you don't." Her eyes brimmed with tears.

I smiled.

"Don't get me wrong, you live alone. You may have been deprived and for that I'm sorry. But I'm a girl, I have a woman's body." She murmured.

I nodded, understanding.

"I don't understand but I understand." I said and she looked on the verge of a breakdown.

I reached to cup her chin but she backed up.

"Don't, don't." She gasped for air and ran to the school as the bell rang.
