Edward's POV -
I kiss the top of his head, and he looks up at me. He looks at me with love, then confusion.
"What's wrong love?"
"It iz all blurry," he slurrs. I notice the left part of his face what I can only describe as droop. He shrieks in pain as he clutches his head with one arm. He breathes heavily in and I hold him, putting a hand on his head to see if my ice cold skin can help. Still gripping his head, a couple of seconds later, he shrieks again. My first thought is if it's a vampire, maybe Jane, but I can't smell anyone in close enough proximity. Suddenly, he stills in my arms, unconscious. I reach for my phone and called a number I have called very little in my century if living.
"911, what's your emergency?"
"My boyfriend's unconscious."
"I see. What was he like before falling unconscious?"
"His face is a little droopy, and he was clutching his head with one arm. He was screaming, and he was slurring his speech. He said it was all blurry."
"Okay, can you give me your location?"
"Umm. 9 Port Avenue? What's happening to him?"
"Okay. That's owned by a Mr Charles Swan?"
"Yes."
"An ambulance is on the way. How old is he?"
"17. We were home because he saved a girl in a motorcycle accident at school. She was in a coma, and he was taking it hard."
"Thank you. Do you know if he has any health problems?"
"Not to my knowledge."
"When did these symptoms start?"
"Maybe 3, 4 minutes ago."
"An ambulance is about three minutes away. Whatever you do, do not give food, drink of meducation. And don't move him. Wait for the ambulance."
"I will."
"Good. Has he drank an intense amount of alcohol today?"
"No. He doesn't drink."
"You're doing good."
"What's happening?"
"I think he may be having a stroke."
"What! But. That's impossible! What can I do to help him?"
"Wait for the ambulance. It will be here soon."

About two minutes later, an ambulance arrives. They rush upstairs with a backboard and I move out of the way. They start asking me questions, similar to the ones the paramedic asked. I answer them, but my main focus is on my mate. My human mate. Who might be having a stroke. And I'm useless. I can't do anything. That take him downstairs and into the ambulance. I ride with them to the hospital, where Carlisle meets us. Of course he'd be on this case. He's the only Pediatric doctor. I walk to go with my mate, but he stops me.
"Edward, you know you can't come with him."
"But he's my mate. I love him."
"Son. I know. But I need to help him, and I can't do that if you're there. You could kill anyone who tried to help him."
"Dad..."
"I can do this. But you should go outside. Or at least to the waiting room. Your eyes are black."
"Dad. Fix him. I can't do this without him."
"I'll do my best."
He walks away with Rory, jogging a little to catch up with them. I went to the waiting, not being able to leave the building where my mate could be dying. After a minute, I call Charlie. He needs to know what's happening to his son.
"Chief Swan speaking."
"Charlie," I reply breathlessly.
"Edward. Shouldn't you be in school?"
"It's Rory. We were at your house, and he went weird. The paramedic said he might be having a stroke."
"W-what? H-how?"
"I don't know, but we're at the hospital. Some doctors took him."
"I'll be right there."
He arrives about five minutes later, coming to the waiting room.
"Edward! Where is he?"
"The doctors."
"I'm sorry you were there."
"I'll be fine. I'm worried about him."
"So am I. Have you called Bella?"
"No. I-I didn't know how. I'm not in the best terms with her." He nod understandingly. I don't have the heart to tell him the other reason I didn't call his daughter. We waited for someone to tell us what was going on. After an hour, he asks me, "Do you mind telling me why the two of you weren't in school?"
"This morning this girl at school got hit by a motorbike. It happened right next to Rory. He saved her life, but she ended up in a coma. He reacted badly to the news. He blamed himself. He didn't want to face school."
"He saved a girl's life today?"
"Yes."

Eventually, Carlisle comes through the door, reciting the greek alphabet backwards in his head. He had an expression I couldn't read, even after all the time knowing him, but I had the feeling this wasn't fantastic news.

AN- I know this is probably kinda unrealistic, but these are real stroke symptoms. It might be sped up, because I didn't really know what to do. Also, I decided on this about an hour ago, so it doesn't exactly match the last chapter but I need a plot device. You will probably see why next chapter.
