Seven...

I stood in the shadows, eyes on the predator.

Eight...

How will it move?

Nine...

What is it capable of?

Ten...

Who is their target?

———————————————

"Time to get serious~"

I flinched, hearing a voice echo throughout the forest.

I hid under the bushes, ears out. 'Eh?'

She's not chasing us?

What is she doing?

I peeked my head out of the bushes, about to hop out of the bushes before I spotted a weird looking leaf a few metre's away from me.

'No...'

I narrowed my eyes, slapping my hand against my mouth as I realised.

'She's luring the kids!'

—————————

"Help! Help me!"

I gulped as I watch Don get chased by Sister Krone.

'Who the hell is she?!'

"Y/N! Hi!"

I heard rustling of bushes nearby and ran over to Shelby.

"Shelby! Cover your mouth!"

I picked her up, just in time before Sister Krone came over.

'I need to distract her to buy me some time... but how?'

Watching the dirt beneath me fly in the air, I reached down, picking up a handful of dirt before throwing it at her.

I couldn't look back. Seeing a cliff, I jumped.

After landing, I spotted a tree with a trunk in it.

I placed Shelby on the tree branch. "Go inside the trunk!" I mumbled.

She nodded and crawled in.

"Where are you? That was a nice trick, Y/N!"

'Uh oh...'

"Emma!" "Emma! Here!"

I could hear Sister Krone's footsteps disappear slowly.

Shelby crawled out but I shook my head, placing a finger against my pursed lips.

"Don't come out, okay? Don't you want to win?" I patted her head as I whispered softly, keeping my ears out for any sounds. "Stay, and if after a while, you hear or see no one, come back to the House. You can do that, can't you, Shelby?" I smiled, "it's the easiest way to win instead of running and running, so be a good girl," I caressed her cheek, "and stay put."

I panted heavily, looking around the area I was in. 'Where can I go?' I ran a hand through my damp hair.

'Shelby will be fine on her own... right?'

"Oh~ Y/N!"

I paused in my tracks. 'On my left, she's close.'

Hearing a familiar giggle, I couldn't bear to turn in the direction of her voice. With a sigh, I sprinted to the south.

I need to run, she knows.
