EMMA"It's now November 7th 2047. 3 hours since I came back, Norman is already heading for the capital with his army. Don and Gilda went to look for Sonju and Mujika. The extermination plan is underway. That's all the briefing you asked." Ray explained. "Did you remake the promise?"
I nodded, "we'll be able to leave to the human world without deaths and demons!" I exclaimed, watching as the children cheered. "And the price?" Ray asked as we headed down the hall.
Then, I turned to Ray, heart beating in anticipation, "I'll tell you later but first, there's something I need to tell you." He raised an eyebrow, "did something happen when you were in there?" My smile widened, "HE told me that Y/N's soul has been fused with a demon. He might not be dead!"
I could see Ray's eyes lit up. "Really?" The rest of the children's eyes widened, "no way?! He's alive?" They whispered amongst themselves. As I was about to say something, I noticed Ray's tense form. "H-His soul... it's fused with a demon?"
"Is something the matter, Ray?" I asked, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Lani and Thoma found out something terrible. Norman isn't planning to exterminate just the Nobles, he's planning to exterminate all the demons in the capital."
I felt my heart stop at those words, and Ray continued. "That must be why he said those words when we tried negotiating with him to not go forward with the plan! Remember when he said 'that's if they want to live, after knowing what they've turned into?' He was referring to Y/N!"
I gasped, 'so Norman knew that Y/N was alive all along and didn't tell us? Why? Was he scared we'd freak out and go crazy searching for him?' My mind was flooded with a bazillion questions, but right now wasn't the time to be thinking about that. "Let's go then! To the Royal Capital!"
"We have to act before Norman kills the Nobles." Ray explained, "if he kills the nobles, the whole social system of the demons will implode. We'll have no one to negotiate with."
The children tilted their heads to the side, "what does that mean?"
Sweat trailed down the side of my head, "means we'll lose our chance at peace. There'll be no way to prevent chaos." Ray and I continued heading towards the entrance, "we'll have to wait for the Tifari Ceremony. The Nobles will all gather at the Royal Capital, Norman will never miss such a chance, he's definitely planning to get rid of the demon's leadership. We need to make it to Norman before he exterminates the Queen and the nobles."
My mind flashed images of demons covered in blood and guts, and Norman standing aside, blood tainting his clothes. "How long will it take to reach the capital?"
"5 days." Ray replied. I gulped, 'not enough time.'
"What if we ignore all the risks and hurried along the shortest paths?"
"3 days, but we can make it!"
We rushed down the steps, until Anna spoke up, "sorry but... it's already November 7th in the afternoon. It's only two days and a half before the Tifari, can you make it in time?" Anna asked, her voice trembling.
Lani and Thoma seemed anxious too, "even if we give it our all, we still won't make it in time! We may reach right in the middle of the battle, isn't that awful?"
"And Emma has barely come back..." "Ray, too, has only had some 3 hours..." The children murmured nervously.
My heart raced even faster, 'we won't make it in time... by the time we reach, Norman would've probably exterminated all the Nobles already!'
"Emma! Ray! Check this out!" We heard Oliver's voice. Turning to them, I gasped. "Horses?!"
Oliver smiled, "get on!"
