Part 13. The brave angel.

...My hands moved on my own, and I took the Ran's gun and shot the kidnapper. I was aiming in his chest, but the bullet hit his collarbone area, he misstepped the stairs and fell.

The gunshots haven't stopped, I pulled Ran closer and we managed to hide behind the vertical ventilation shaft. It's a weak defence, but still something.

- Girl, that was a nice shot, - just when Ran said it the fuss was over and we heard the lost shot, and then silence.

It was a second that lasted 100 times slowlier.

- Ran? Sanzu?, - it's Mikey's voice he is closer to us, I heard Sanzu somewhere from the underneath floor.
- Here, boss, Y/N is with me, - he put his palm on his shoulder.
- Your shoulder, - I sat in front of him and tried to stop the bleeding with my hands. Thanks to the first aid courses I attended in uni I know some basics.

I heard Mikey's footsteps and turned to him.

- Mikey, he's bleeding, we have to get out of here, - we helped Ran to stend up.
- Y/N, are you okay?
- I can walk by myself, that's good enough I guess... - It was hard to walk since my stomach was still aching from the punches from earlier.
- I'm glad you're okay, - said Mikey, - Ran, good job.
- You better seen Y/N's shooting, that was hot, - grinned Ran, and I felt awfully awkward.
- Hey! There is a bomb in that room, - I recalled what I saw in the first room, - we should get out of here quickly. He was telling something about midnight, what's time is it?
- It's 23:55, let's hurry, - said Mikey.

We were already one floor down and met Sanzu and Rindo.
- This place is about to blow up, where is Kaku? - Mikey asked transfering Ran to Rindo and Sanzu.
- Kakucho is outside with the leftovers of Hanma's gang, - answered Rindo.

Mikey gave me a slight hug to help me walk quicker sice I was limping, and we headed as far as possible from the building.
Right at 00:00 we heard the explosion while driving away. I was with Mikey in his car, Rindo was talking care of Ran on the backseat. I turned to them.

- Need a hand?
- Sing a song to me, Y/N that would be a pleasure, - said Ran with his brand smirk.
- I'm a bad singer, sorry, - I turned back.

I noticed that Mikey's dark and empty eyes. That made me feel chills.

- You shoot better then sing then? - said Rindo.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I felt like vomiting, but Mikey took my hand and softly squeezed it.

- Y/N, it's okay, you didn't killed him. See, Ran is alive, and he has the same wound...
- I know it's not me. Still I'm shocked. Let's forget about it for some time, please.
- Okay, just know that you did everything right, you protected yourself.
- Y-yeah... - I put my other hand on top of Mikey's, - thank you... thanks to all of you...

I began to cry. It's so stupid to cry in car with three men on board, but I can't play strong anymore.
They were silent and just listened to my sobbing.
When I calmed down a little I continued.

- I was so scared, but I knew you'd come, - I gave a short smile to Mikey.
- Y/N, thanks to you I'm alive, you'll be my guardian angel now, - Ran smiled.
- Ran, you have hallucinations from blood loss? - asked Mikey jealously. I just caressed his hand.

All the other way we rode silently, I was caressing Mikey's hand, he sometimes took it out to change the transmission, but then he immediately put it back for me.
Ran was hissing sometimes and Rindo jocked on him because of it.
I noticed Mikey driving me to the other place.

- Mikey, my home is other way...
- You're not going home. We're going to the Bonten's mansion, it's dangerous for you to be alone now.

I already inhaled and opened my mouth to protest, but that was convincing. Thinking about being in the empty apartment and jumping from each sound is terrible.
