Competition?

'Thank you..Yae..not just for this. For everything in general-' The Guuji cut you off before you could finish. 'Y/n, it's alright. Your mother trusted me to look after you, you don't need to thank me.' She smiled, reassuring you that everything will be fine.

'How many times do i have to say this..i'm not interested.' You heard Heizou's voice echo down the hall. A confused look matures on your face as you look down the corridor. You stand up and begin to walk down, unsure on what's happening. 'Heizou? Is everything alright?' You pick up your pace as Yae follows behind you. You exit the hallway and see Heizou looking to find you. 'Oh Y/n, thank goodness you're here..' He smiled when he sees you, and you give a wary smile back. 'What's happening?' You ask, seeing a shine maiden next to him.

'This is Etsu..she's been on my back since the day became a detective.' He looked at you with guilty eyes. 'And you are?' She asked, venom in her voice. 'I'm his girlfriend.' You smile as Heizou wraps his arms around your waist. You didn't see her as a threat, but the way she reacted to those three words initiated otherwise. 'Mrs Etsu, please don't antagonise my guests.' Miko ordered from behind you. The woman's expression faltered before bowing and leaving, taking one last glance at Heizou and side eyeing you.

Once she left, Heizou's attention was on you. 'Y/n i'm sorry..i needed the bathroom and got lost and then before i knew it-'
'Heizou it's alright, the way you handled that was amazing.' You smiled at him. It felt as if the two of you had been together for as long as you had known eachother. 'That's all, so if you two are done, i am.' Yae Miko nodded at you before turning and leaving.

'Ever since i became a detective, that woman took an interest in me. She would always try to flatter me, bring me gifts..that type of stuff.' Heizou dragged out the exaggerated words. 'And everytime id tell her to leave, that i'm not interested...she's so-'
'idiotic?'
'Idiotic.' Heizou smiled looking at you. The way his eyes glimmered when they met yours made you wonder if your eyes did the same.

The two of you made your way to the station. There wasn't anything big happening case wose, so you had a lot of paid free-time. 'Hey..Heizou, how come i never saw you around the encampment?' You asked, looking up from your papers. 'I kinda hated it there. It was so..boring..i saw you a lot though!' He grinned at you, setting a piece of paper down. 'You always fitted in with everyone. Even the class C detectives. I wish i had introduced myself earlier..but i'm happy the way things turned out..' He gave you a wink before looking down and opening another case file.

You watched the way he worked. His toned arms flexed in the most addictive way possible every time he wrote or flicked a page. You noticed how he'd bite the corner of his bottom lip every time he was thinking, or bite the top of the pen. 'I can see you staring y/n~' Heizou sang, not looking away but making you blush. 'Oh shut up..' You laughed, looking down at your paperwork.

A few weeks had passed and most days were the same. There weren't many interesting cases, so you and Heizou spent most of your time together. The sun looked as it was brightening everyday. Summer was in bloom.

Stepping out of the house, a humid air hit your face. 'Oh my-' The warmth was already unbearable and you hadn't even stepped out of the house yet. 'What's up- oh wow.' Heizou walked behind you as he felt the non-existent breeze hit him.

It wasn't long until you were sweating down the streets of Inazuma; the busting people didn't make it any better. 'Why are there so many people hereeee' you groaned, dragging your feet on the floor. 'Heizou? Where have you gone now?' You looked around for the detective, retracing your steps. A woman in the street saw you expression and stopped you. 'Miss? I saw a man walk that way..if you're looking for him?' She pointed to a tree and there you saw Heizou...arguing with someone.

You paced up to him, only to see Aratki Itto infront, a displeased look on his face. 'Heizou you could have atleast told me where you were going! What are you doing?' You asked, looking around. You looked to the side and saw a massive Onikabuto on the side of the tree. 'GET AWAY GET AWAY!' You yelped, springing back. 'Hey! Don't be mean..' Itto pouted. 'Look..just give me the big and we have a deal.' He continued, crossing his arms.
'No way. How about we battle for it?' Heizou finished. 'Heizou what the fuck.' You deadpanned, making him look back at you. 'Oh come on, you have never heard of Onikabuto fights before?' You shook your head and both the men gave a shocked look.

After what felt like years of bickering, a woman with green hair walked up, her arms crossed. 'Boss stop hassling people again...' She sighed looking at you and Heizou before her eyebrows drew a worried expression. 'Tenryou officers? Oh no..what's he done now?' She facepalmed and shook her head. You laughed and smiled.
'That's what i'm trying to figure out. Oh! Don't worry, he's not under arrest..' You smiled, putting your hand out. 'Detective Y/n Y/l/n!' The woman took your hand, you couldn't tell if she was smiling due to her mask. 'It's nice to meet you, Kuki Shinobu. I'm like..Itto's 'woman in the chair'' She shook her head playfully.

'Oh it's on!' Heizou proudly spoke, hands on his hips. Itto's eyes narrowed but he smiled. 'You're going down.' He placed his hands on his knees and crouched down to Heizou's level, making you laugh a little.

'What are they fighting over?' You whispered to your new friend.

'That Onikabuto on the tree...' She pointed to the one the two were arguing about before laughing a little.
