Chapter Twenty Two

***********************

Allison, Stiles and I were all sitting in an empty classroom during our lunch hour waiting for Scott, to discuss what we were going to do about Lydia. I still couldn't grasp my mind around the fact the venom didn't affect her in any way. That venom was powerful, it dropped Stiles, and I in just a matter of seconds. Shoot, it dropped an Alpha to the ground just as fast. My sister was being accused of being a slimy Lizard looking creature, and killing innocent people. No matter what I would say to defend her, Derek wasn't going listen. The fact that the venom didn't affect her spoke louder than any words I could.

"It'll be alright..." Stiles said taking a seat next to me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.

I could feel the tears sitting in my eyes, "No Stiles...nothing is going to be alright..."

He pulled me close when the door of the classroom slammed open, "Um, guys we have a problem..."

"Of course we do, Scott. We are well aware." Allison said.

"Where's Lydia?" He asked, as he closed the door.

I let out a sigh, "She's safe for now, she's in Ms. Morrell's office."

"Alright man, so is there a problem aside from Lydia not reacting to the venom?" Stiles asked.

Scott looked down at the ground nodding, "Derek is outside waiting for Lydia."

The moment the words left his mouth, I felt like I was going to be sick. I have almost lost my sister twice, I wasn't going to let Derek lay a hand on her. Stiles pulled me closer to him rubbing my back.

"Waiting to kill her?" Allison asked.

Scott gave me a sympathetic look, and then turned back to Allison, "If he thinks she's the Kanima, then yes, especially after what happened at the pool."

"It's not her, " I spoke up, my voice cracking with hurt and anger. "Don't you think I would be able to tell."

"Otto, she didn't pass the test. Nothing happened."

Stiles stood up and made his way over to Scott, "I have to agree with her man, I have this feeling. It can't be her.."

Allison jumped in, feeling the tension in the room, " It doesn't matter, because Derek think's it's her. So we either convince him that he's wrong, or we've got to find a way to protect her."

Scott ran his fingers through his hair, "Well, I really don't think he's gonna do anything here. Not at school."

I walked over to where everyone else was with my arms crossed tightly across my chest, "What about after school?"

"What if we can prove that Derek's wrong..." Allison spoke up again.

"By three o'clock?" Stiles questioned, not really sounding very optimistic.

Allison stood there for a second, when her eyes widened. She had obviously come up with an idea, "There could be something in the Bestiary."

Stiles crossed his arm and cocked his head to the side, "Oh, you mean the 900 page book written in archaic Latin that none of us can read?" He scoffed, "Good luck with that.."

As much as I wanted to throw a sarcastic comment back his way, it dawned on me that I did know someone who could help us with the latin. "Actually, I think I may know someone who might be able to translate it.."

"Uh, I can talk to Derek...Maybe convince him to give us a chance to prove that it's not her," He sighed running his hands through his hair again. "But if anything happens, you guys let me handle it, okay?"
