I.The Beginning:~ Making it big~

I'd just landed this fly internship at LaFace, working the legendary Babyface and LA Reid. So  what they had me doing busy work, at least I was getting to be around people in the industry and make the connections I needed for the future. I spent a lot time labeling, listening, and discarding the demo tapes that came into the office. One day I was working the front desk for Miriam while she went to lunch and these three girls walked in, they stopped at the desk.

Hey we're here to see Pebbles and LA, this cute little girl with a pixie cut said. Sure what's the name? Tionne Watkins. Okay, you can go back, you know where his office is right? She looked me up and down for a minute, smiled and then said Uhh no can you show us. No problem, I got up and walked them to LA's office. I could feel her staring at me as we were walking to the office. By no means am I interested in girls, I got a man, regardless if he treats me right. But it was something about her that was intriguing and mysterious to me. And on top of that she was giving off this mad sexual energy as well.

Well this is his office I said pointing to his door. The other two girls went in the office first but Tionne stayed behind. Hey have I seen you around before? Maybe I mean I am at Jellybeanz every Sunday night. That's where I've seen you at. You the shorty that spins before Dallas. Yeah that's me, I DJ every now and then you know to keep up my skills. I know you too you're the girl that be battling the guys all the time, you be killing they asses. Well Thank you she said smiling. * Oh my god her smile made me weak in the damn knees. But I couldn't show it. Keep your cool Jay, its a girl for heaven sake.* So what's your name? Jay'mee, but everyone calls me Jay. Well Jay, I guess I'll see you on Sunday night then? Yep you will, cool I'll be looking forward to it, and then she winked at me and went into LA's office. Damn that girl had me going for real, she made me forget all about Eric's lying ass and the fact that I don't even go for girls.

Eric and I's relationship is a totally different story though. The relationship lasted 3 years longer than it really should have. That's my fault because I thought I could fix him and his drug problem. My mom was always telling me "baby you can't fix him, and if he loves you he will change for you on his own." So now here I am waiting for him to change on his own. This shit is taking too damn long. That conversation with Tionne stayed on my mind for the rest of the afternoon. When they were leaving she smiled and winked at me again. What she's doing to me right now is to crazy being that this the first time I've met her.

The next few days went by as normal work, school, and home so when Sunday rolled around I was more than ready to hit JellyBeanz for a much needed break, mostly from Eric though. He was really starting to get on my last nerve. It's a shame that I have to hide all of my money and valuables so his ass won't steal it to buy drugs. His days are seriously numbered with me and in this relationship.

I just finished my set and it was Dallas's turn now. I was walking over to the concession stand when I heard someone call me. Jay! Oh hey Tionne I said turning around. Hey shorty, you was doing your thang tonight. You know how I do I said laughing. So you battling tonight? Of course boo, that's why I am here. *Did she just call me boo, she made me weak all over again* can't wait to see you kill them dudes. Thanks. Then one of the girls that was with her the other day walked up to us. 

Yo Ti there you are I've been looking for your ass for the last 10 mins. Damn sorry Lili, this is Jay, remember from the other day at LA's office. Oh yeah, so this is the girl you...she said looking me up and down and smiling. Then Ti hit her in the side trying to shut her up. She gave her that "Shut the hell  up face" She got the hint after like 5 seconds. My bad, my name is Lisa. She said extending her hand and smiling at me. Hi Lisa, I am Jay'mee or Jay. So Jay, what you do at La Face, Lisa said. I am an intern so I do a little of everything you know, just trying to graduate. So you go to school at GSU, Ti said sipping her drink. Yup and I'll be out of there in 2 months too. What are you getting your degree in? Radio, Television and Film, I want to dabble in all 3 areas, but I am also getting a degree in business too. Gotta have that back-up plan. Damn girl you smart as shit. Hmm...something like that. I just wanted to do better for myself than my parents did. I can feel that, I made that leap too. Lisa said 

Yeah her ass came down from Philly with a keyboard and $750.00 and that's it. Really what happened? Family issues you know and I couldn't stay around that negativity so I bounced. Free spirit I see. So what about you Tionne what's your story? You can call me Ti or TiTi, I am not big on putting the first name out. Mmm..I am originally from Iowa, moved with my mom and brother. I like to dance and I do hair at Escape hair salon. That's cool you got side hustles like me. Got to, these checks haven't started rolling in yet. So that's what yall were meeting with LA about the other day? Something like that she said smiling again. * She needs to stop before I jump over this table on her* you're talking to the T and L of TLC. Congratulations, I heard yall's demos the other day when I was labeling them. Thank you, I gotta feeling we're gonna make it big. 

 Yo Ti you gon chit chat all day or you trying to battle, this tall dude said coming over to us. Excuse me while I go handle these dudes. She said walking away.

Now it was just Lisa and I sitting at the table. I don't know what's up with me, but now I am feeling her energy like hella strong. When they were both sitting here Oh my god I thought I was going to spontaneously combust from the intense energy the three of us were sharing. Let me tell you though Lisa is cute too, she has these adorable big doe eyes and her aura is drawing me to her more and more. In fact between her and Ti I am practically melting in their presence.

So Jay, what you think of Ti? What you mean? I mean what you think of her she said giving me a straight face. Uhh she's cool, I like her personality. Hmm...Okay would you ever date her? * Hold the freaking phone did she just ask me if I would date Ti, as in me being with a women* I started coughing; I didn't take her to be the lesbian type. She's not but she's feeling you big time. She hasn't stopped talking about you since the other day. So I wanted to see how you feel about her. Honestly Lisa, I am feeling her, but I am kind of in a complicated situation right now. How long she said moving over to my side of the table. 3 years to long and I am ready for it to be over, but you know. Yeah, I understand. You really think Ti is feeling me like that? I said looking at her. She's more than feeling you Jay, I am not going to say anymore just watch her body language when she's around you, just as Lisa said that Ti walked back to the table.

Dang Ti you killed them again. They can't handle this she said chuckling. For real though you can really dance I said looking her straight in the eyes. I think I made her nervous cause she just kinda stared at me. Uhh Thanks Jay! I looked over at Lisa and she was laughing. What's so funny Lili she said slightly shoving her. Oh nothing, I'll check yall out later she said getting up from the table. It's nice to meet you Jay and I'll catch you later Ti.

 What was that all about? Nothing she was just telling me a story about someone she knows. Oh okay! Well Ti I am out, got class in the morning. Her expression went from happy to kind of sad. Damn, I was enjoying hanging with you. Ti it won't be the last time, you know where I work. * Time to see if she really is feeling me like Lisa said* And if you really want to see me you can page me I said getting slightly closer to her. * Just like Lisa said her body language completely gave her away. That cool she had 5 minutes before was gone and she looked all nervous.* But I don't have your pager number. Here I wrote it down for you I said slipping the number in her hand. I got even closer and whispered in her ear, and when you really wanna see me my phone number is on there too. I kissed her cheek and then turned and walked away. Once I got to the door I turned around and she was literally still standing there watching me. Yup she's really into me, Eric better watch out, he about to lose his fiancee to a woman.
