The night was going great people were eating, music was going, and I had my three girls. I was surprised by the conversation I had with Li's mom though. Little did I know it was the first of three that I would have that night, that would make me look at our relationship in a whole new light.

She had pulled me aside from everyone. Jay'mee, can I speak with you for a minute? Yes ma'am I said following her into the kitchen while everyone else was outside. You don't have to call me ma'am you can call me mom like Lisa does. Uh Okay mom, you wanted to speak to me? I did, I wanted to thank you! Why are you thanking me? She moved to the window looking out at the backyard. Come here she said. I walked over to her. You see that she said pointing to Li. You mean Lisa. More than that look at her she's smiling and she's happy. I haven't seen her this happy in a long time and its because of you and the other girls she's gotten her spark back. I looked intently at Li and she was practically glowing. I knew physically why she was glowing but aura wise she was giving off this bright light that was blinding. What do you mean she's gotten her spark back? She looked at me; she didn't tell you? Tell me what? Her father died right after they got signed and she's been having a rough time with it. She didn't tell me. Don't tell her I told you, just let her come to you about it. But since you've been around she's been telling me how, she thinks you are a blessing sent from her father. I looked at her again and this time she saw me and winked at me. Jay'mee she's in love with you. Her mom said. How do you know? I know my child and if she wasn't she wouldn't be here with you, plus you are managing to get her to leave Andre alone. Which is something I've been trying to do since they first met. I am glad that I could be a good distraction for her. I am glad you are too. She said as we walked back out to the back yard.

The evening went on and the next mom to pull me to the side was Ro's mom. Ms. Jay'mee I had no idea you could BBQ like that. You can thank my uncles for that; they kept me around the pit all the time when I was younger. You know Rozonda's been telling me a lot about you lately, she says that you are different to her. Different? She says that you listen to her heart and not just her words. Ro's a very loving person and that sometimes interferers with her judgment of the actual person or situation. I push her to see the difference between the two. You are heaven sent to Ro. I've been trying to tell her the same thing since she was little and she just wouldn't listen to me. That's the thing with her, you can't tell her, she's stubborn you have to show her the difference. I showed her the difference between the way we treat her and the way Dallas was treating her. Thank you god for doing that because I told her from the first time I met him he was no good. She had to learn on her own and now she knows. Yup she does, let me get these plates back inside before flies get all over them.

I am waiting for my third and final talk with Ti's mom. I knew this talk was gonna come because she had been eyeing me the whole night. I wasn't too sure what she thought about the relationship. Her and my mom were sitting over by the door talking looking back at me and the girls. Ti I am afraid, I said whispering in her ear. Why baby? She said looking at me. I pointed to our mom's talking. She looked at them and then back at me. Babe I am sure they are just having a friendly conversation don't worry about it. I looked back and her mom was waving me over to her. I'll be back babe. I said getting up from where I was sitting between her and Li.

Come talk with me Jay, Ms. Gayle said as we went into the house. Yes ma'am I said following her into the house and into the living room. I sat on the couch and she sat next to me. You know I know your mother right? Yes ma'am I do. Cut out the ma'am crap, call me Ms.Gayle or mama but don't call me ma'am. Yes Ma'..Ms Gayle. She was already scaring me with this conversation and it just started. Anyway me and your mama go way back. Is that right, how do yall know each other? We met in a group session. Group session? Yeah, a women's group session it was a support group for women who had been through domestic violence, I was your mom's sponsor. Wait you're the Ms.Gayle that would send me the supportive notes and the bracelets...I stopped and looked at her again...the bracelets that your daughter would make. Yup that's me and those bracelets she use to make them all the time. It was the only girly thing I could get her to do. She said laughing a little. Does she know that you know about my family? She knows that I know your mother but she doesn't know the extent in which I know her and she doesn't know that I use give those bracelets to you. I sat there for a minute before asking my next question. Ms.G if I can call you that. Sure you can. What do you really think our relationship? Well Ti and I's relationship? I am a fill you in on something Jay I'd been waiting for the two of you to meet for a while. I just had to wait for it to work itself out. When she came and told me she met you, I was like finally you met her. I laughed a little. So what you're telling me is that you have no problem with us dating. What I am telling you Jay is that she is one of your soul mates. You have two others out there as well; don't be afraid to love them. Don't worry what everyone else will think, worry only about what they think. I can do that Ms.G! Good that's what I wanted to hear, I know you love my daughter and I know she loves you too. Thanks Ms. G I said hugging her. No problem, this is what I am here for. I am a go back outside now. Okay I'll see you out there in a minute.

I went back upstairs to my room, went into my drawer and pulled out this silver box from the back of it. I still had all those bracelets. I never would of imagined that she was the one that made them. I pulled out the Red and blue one slid them on my wrist. Put the box back in the drawer and slid it closed. When I came back down stairs I heard some people talking. As I got closer I could hear it was my mom talking. I sat quietly on the stairs and listened. She was talking to the girls.

Ms. Lorraine how do we get to her, like really get to her. Ro said. Nichole is just like that, she's going to show you 1000% of her heart and love but she is not going to show you how to return the favor. She knows we love her yet it's like she afraid to get to close to us. Li said. I've tried you guys but that girl is so guarded. Ti said. Listen Nichole is stubborn so the traditional ways of showing her you care aren't gonna work. Get creative with it, it's not about what you buy or say to her. With her its about meaning. So when you do something make it meaningful. Make it to where she has no other choice but to believe in what you are saying. Okay Ms. Lo we get it, we will just have to love her hard and make her trust us. Exactly! Yall already half way there if you are meeting the family, she kept Eric away for a year and half before she even mentioned he existed. She said laughing. A year and half! Li said. Yeah we didn't even know she was dating him, found out by accident actually, but that's in the past now. I don't like that dude Jay was way too good for him, Ti said. Speaking of Jay where she at? Li said. I don't know maybe she outside. Ro said looking out the window. I'll go look up stairs Li said walking towards the stairs as the others went back outside.
