"Hey, Mrs. Cameron." The front desk lady greeted my mom when she walked in. She been up to this nut ass school so much that they remember exactly who she is.

"Hey, Ms. Davis." She said back before looking over at me.

I stood up, feeling a little dizzy.

"Are you okay? I keep telling you Kevin you gotta take your medicine. It isn't an option."

"I know. I know, ma'. And I did take them." I sighed.

fuck i look like tryna die ?

"Well did you eat anything? The medicine's side effects can be worse if you're not keeping up with eating good, Kev. And you know this. I don't know why I gotta keep repeating myself to you."

"I know ma'." I mumbled while putting my bookbag on my shoulders.

My mom signed the sign out paper that sat at the front desk for the fourth time this week before we made our way out of the school. I could really sign myself out but my mom liked to come inside and check in with the nurse from time to time.

Im tired of doing the same shit everyday. What I really wanted to do was get back to playing football. That shit kept me going but it all came to an end in 10th grade when I was diagnosed with my condition.

Everyday consists of me taking pills just to help keep my heart functioning and to make sure I don't risk rejecting my transplant heart.

The meds made me feel so tired and drained at times. Things were ten times worst when I didn't eat shit throughout the day.

My condition caused me so many problems no matter what and I hated it. I almost failed tenth grade because of it. My big sister had my back and was completing any assignments I wasn't able to finish.

I was grateful for that because witout her this eleventh grade shit would've been chalked and I would've been with the tenth graders again.

Pulling up to our house, my mom parked and shut the car off.

I looked down at my bookbag.

heavy ass bookbag, ian bringing that shit up all them steps to my room.

I got out of the car and walked up the steps to our house. I was so exhausted that I was struggling with getting the door unlocked.

"Move out the way boy." My mom came and unlocked the door swiftly.

"Ya' father isn't home yet. He said he's on the way though. Go have a seat on the couch while I warm this food up from the other night for you."
