Vicki's POV

I like to sit with Kol's coffin in my free time. Which lately is a lot of the time. We haven't gotten many leads this week, or last week.

We've been traveling around looking for packs for over a month now. But luckily, Niklaus likes to bring his siblings with us.

Right now, we are staying in a little town on the border of Tennessee and Kentucky.

I'm sitting in the warehouse near our motel. Well technically, I'm sitting on Kol's coffin, I have the top half open so that I can see him.

As much as I trust Niklaus, I don't trust that he won't slaughter me if I undagger my soulmate. I try to pull Kol's soul into my head as much as possible so that he isn't in pain. I also like to give the others dreams so that it isn't so cold, dark, and painful for them.

I recently found out that I actually was able to see Kol's past if I touched him. Now I'm able to do it with anyone if I focus.

I set down the book that I was reading and lean over to place my hand on Kol's chest. I close my eyes and focus.

Young Rebekah, Henrik, and Kol run through the forest. Laughing as Finn chases after them.

"I'm going to get you!" he bellows as he swoops down and picks up a giggling Rebekah.

"Nooo! He got me, save yourselves!"

The two boys turn back before they keep running.

They reach their hut, almost knocking over Elijah as they skidded to a stop.

I laugh before opening my eyes to see Niklaus standing in the doorway with a soft smile on his face.

"Thought I'd find you here."

"I was just hanging out with Kol."

"I can see that. Come on, let's go get some actual food. There is a charming little diner near our motel."

I pick up my book and hop off of the coffin.

He was right, it is a cute little place. We get seated right away and spend a bit glancing over our menus.

The brunette waitress comes back over, only looking at Niklaus while she takes our orders. He of course doesn't notice the "fuck me" eyes that shes giving him.

As soon as she walks away, I nudge him. He looks up at me. "What?"

"She was totally flirting with you, you need to either sleep with her or feed from her. She looks tasty."

He shakes his head. "Not my type"

"Whatever you say Niklaus." I laugh before taking a sip of my drink.

"Why do you call me that?" he asks with a serious look on his face.

"What do you mean?"

"You have never called me 'Klaus'. It's always 'Niklaus', why's that?"

I straighten up before setting my glass down and turning towards him properly. Time to get real.

"'Klaus' is this big bad hybrid that everyone is terrified of. When I look at you, I don't see 'Klaus' I see-  my friend."

He shows his little dimples as he smiles at me. Aww, so cute!

"Well, my friends and family call me 'Nik'. And since you are technically both of those things now, you should too."

"Aww Nik, you big ol' softy!"

He huffs and makes his face neutral again. "Yeah, yeah. Thank you, by the way."

"For what?"

"You've been completely honest with me so far. Especially about the loophole in my curse having to do with a certain alive doppelganger and my dishonest ripper companion."

"Well, I felt the need to tell you everything." Wait, what the fuck. I felt the need to tell him EVERYTHING. Is this what I think it is?

I quickly dig through my purse and pull out a piece of paper that I've had for a while. I hand it to him.

He glances at it and chuckles. "I was wondering when you would figure it out."

"You knew?"

He shrugs. "I had a tiny inkling."

The waitress comes over with our food. Niklau- I mean Nik gives me back the note.

I look at it one more time before putting it back into my purse.
