_____________

Lan Wangji was nowhere to be found. The sects were rioting just outside the burial mounds and Wei Wuxian was captured and bound. He was forced to watch all those sects leaders and so called high honorable cultivators kill the people Wei Wuxian tried so hard to defend and save. The only one left, was a little toddler who was clinging tightly to Wei Wuxian's leg. The sects wanted to kill the little boy, as they thought he would grow to avenge his sect that had been destroyed. The just didn't know the truth about the little boy's background....his real identity. Wei Wuxian barely had any fight lift in him, but for the little boy, he kept up his fighting. He even sent over the last bit of resentment to the little boy to protect the boy in case something were to happen to him.

Lan Xichen was one of those people who were with the rioting and angry people. He was angry that Wei Wuxian had been corrupting his little brother, and he had to lock Wangji up in his home to keep him from stopping the sects. Wei Wuxian didn't know exactly where or how everything went wrong. Maybe it was the day he gave up his golden core, maybe it was the day he returned from the burial mounds after being missing for three months. Maybe it was when Lotus pier was destroyed, or maybe it was when he started to study at Cloud Recesses. But maybe it wasn't any of that, maybe it was when Jiang Fengmian took him in.

Wei Wuxian has lost all hope and desire. He didn't know what happened to Lan Wangji but in a way he was glad. He didn't want to see him. He didn't want to see the disappointment in Lan Wangji's face, or the anger. Wei Wuxian was in love with Lan Wangji but he pushed him away all because of the reason that he was captured. He didn't want Lan Wangji to be defamed because of his uselessness.

Out of nowhere, several arrows were shot Wei Wuxian's direction, taking him out of his train of thought. All of them missed Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian followed the direction of where the arrows shot too, and saw that the little boy, A'Yuan only took one step back, and wasn't protected enough by the resentful energy to save him from the arrow. Wei Wuxian screamed as he saw the little boy's life drain from his eyes.

"How could you shoot a defenseless child? Defenseless elderly and vulnerable farmers who were not cultivators? How can you be called righteous cultivators when you kill the weak?!" Wei Wuxian yelled through his tears, "how could you possibly know anything that I have actually sacrificed for you all?! Including you, Sect Leader Jiang Wanyin! You killed a girl you once loved but you don't even know the half of what she went through for you. The half of what I went through for you, all because I promised your stupid parents to protect you with my life. I did that, and I was thrown away like garbage!"

An arrow struck Wei Wuxian in the chest, but the pain didn't stop him from telling everyone everything, "you want to know why I do not carry a sword?" He asked, "why I use this path you all are so jealous of?"

"How would we know if you speak the truth?" Jiang Wanyin asked.

"You have truth serum? Lie detectors? Use them, I lie I am punished for it, I tell the truth, you guys get punished for it because you were wrong!" Wei Wuxian challenged.

Lan Qiren agreed to the terms. He administered truth serum to Wei Wuxian, and if he light, a sharp pain would shoot through his body, almost like his veins would be set on fire, and that pain would last for three seconds. The more lies the longer the pain. He tells the truth and speaks of an unimaginable truth they all would receive the punishment...including the pain Wei Wuxian suffered from the core transfer...he was going to not only not like telling what he wanted to take to the grave but now seeing that others will suffer his pain if he speaks truth of it, he will be happy to see them all suffer.

"I also suggest you find that second master Lan of yours," Wei Wuxian said, "this also involves him!"

Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen didn't like that they had to take Wangji out of his seclusion that he was locked to, but they had no choice now. They agreed to the terms and if they did not follow, they will suffer. So, Lan Xichen left to get his brother. He wasn't expecting to see Lan Wangji so worried for Wei Wuxian. Lan Xichen wondered just how much he did not really know of his brother anymore?

Lan Wangji arrived to see his Wei Ying bound, beaten, and had an arrow in his chest. He then saw the little boy lying dead on the ground. Lan Wangji had never been so angry in his entire life.

"Who killed my son?!" Lan Wangji asked.

"What?" Lan Xichen asked in shock, "son?"

"That is my son! Lan Yuan!" Lan Wangji said, "he was born several months after Wei Ying moved into the mounds. He and I were in love, we were secretly married, and he birthed that little boy. Making him my son and an heir to the Gusu Lan Sect!"

Lan Xichen's heart dropped into the pit of his stomach, 'his son? He and Wei Wuxian had a son, and the boy lived here? Why?'

"Why didn't you take him back to Gusu?" Lan Xichen asked.

"I didn't want him to be around Lan Qiren!" Wei Wuxian answered, "as he was always ruthless towards me. I figured if he knew it was my son with Lan Zhan, even being my blood, he was be too strict. Lan Zhan didn't want him around the sects either because of how corrupt they have become!"

Before anyone could say anything, all of the cultivators groaned in pain for a few seconds. Lan Wangji was confused at first but then he realized they used the truth serum on Wei Wuxian. Not just any truth serum either, a truth serum that had a side effect to those who lie or to those who have accused someone for lying and were proven wrong.

Lan Wangji smirked, "I am happy to see you all suffering for once...now answer me, who...killed...my...son!"

"They all just shot arrows when A'Yuan stepped out for a second," Wei Wuxian answered, "I tried to save him...but I couldn't...I'm sorry."

Lan Wangji looked at his husband, "I am not mad at you," he said and used Bichen to cut the ropes that bound him.

"They are going to suffer from a lot more pain, and I cannot wait," Wei Wuxian said, "I have a lot more to share, including the reason I do not use my sword anymore."

Lan Wangji didn't actually know that reason. Despite being married to him, he decided to not care about finding out why anymore. He just wanted Wei Ying to be happy and let him be, now that Wei Wuxian was going to speak the truth, Lan Wangji was actually worried.
