'.....' Pete remains silent waiting for Vegas to finish

With a shock, Pete got word besides 'Huh?'

'What did you say?' Pete

'Say it again' Pete said in an exasperated tone

'Your mother. Do you wanna meet her?' Vegas his tone was unpredictable

'Wh-where is she?' Pete stammers he can't think straight anymore everything is just too much to absorb

'She here' Vegas

'Y-you said you don't know them. What now? You liar" Pete

There was a moment of silence Vegas then said in a dominant voice, leaving no room to disobey  'You have 24 hours to save her life, princess. You know what to do

'I-' Pete had yet to get a chance to say before Vegas cut him short

'And you know what I can do' Vegas and with that, he cut the phone off

Pete's face turn white he got no choice to make, leaving was for the worst, there was a message notification Pete click to see it was Vegas who send him the picture of a person sleeping on the hospital bed with oxygen attached to her nose and she was sleeping peacefully

"Let me see" Dane reach out to take the phone from Pete

He holds the phone for his father to see, and upon seeing that his eyes go widen seem not to believe it.

"I-it really her," Dane's father said almost in whispers while drops of tear flow down his eyes

Everyone was stunned into silence, no one spoke, it seems as if they had lost the game even before it had started. Vegas was a genius manipulator, he play his card well. Knowing his opponent well enough to pull the one-blow card at the very end or was it the very start?

"I need to save her," Pete said in a small voice barely a whisper

"W-we will find a way" Dane

"No, I will go back. I can't leave yet not without her" Pete

"Give me my phone" Pete then took the phone from his uncle and dial Vegas number

On the second pass by, the other party picks up the phone but says nothing

'I will go back with you, Vegas but i- I have a condition' Pete

'You are in no place to bargain princess but I will still hear it out' Vegas

'If I to go back with you, you can't harm my family not even one of them' Pete

'Promise me, give me your word' Pete said desperately

'You got until 10 tomorrow to come back and I will consider your condition' Vegas

'Just to let you know Pete, I'm not the man with much patience' with that he cut the phone off

"Why did you do that?" Dane looked at him with many expressions his tone was that of disappointment

"Why can't I? I made my choice. This time at least let me protect you all" Pete said with a serious tone but you could hear a hint of sadness in there
