Y/N's POV:

"So, is your man picking you up?" asked my stupid sister coyly. I'd spilled the tea to her about what had happened after the game.

"Mina, shut up," I groaned. I already knew this whole pretending to date was a weird situation, did she really have to rub it in? I was in my room, getting ready before school.

"And yes, Haemin will be picking me up in five minutes, so go away and bother Mum."

"But she always tries to one-up me," Mina whined. "It's no fun."

So all I have to do is out annoy you? I thought. Honestly, it was too much effort.

Outside my bay window, I saw Haemin pull up, so I grabbed my bag and left, casually flipping Mina off as I did so.

"Thanks for picking me up again," I said, opening the passenger door.

"Hi," he said with a smile. It wasn't really a response to what I'd said. But Haemin was a little weird like that

"Hi." When he continued to look at me instead of driving off, I tried not to giggle. "So, are we going to school today?"

"Right," he said as it hit him, and he reversed out of the driveway.

I split with Chae-soo and the others, as we all had different classes, catching Bo-Bae going to the library. I made my way over before I had to go to History. She'd been avoiding me lately, and I was going to sort this out now.

"Hey Bo-Bae, have you got a study period now?"

"Hey. Uh, yeah. What about you?"

"History, but Professor Jung's always late. Can we talk for a bit?"

Bo-Bae turned to the friend she'd been walking with and asked her to get a spot for them, and I said a quiet "thank you" to her as she left.

"Have I done something?" I asked, wanting to get straight to the point rather than drag this out. "It feels like you've sort of been avoiding me?"

"Wow, you really do just get to the point don't you?"

I shrugged. "I like to try and avoid misunderstandings."

"That's fair." She sighed. "I guess I owe you the same. Yeah, I have been avoiding you, but not because of you."

I could see where this was leading. Bo-Bae had hung out with me when I was with Kyungmin and Haemin, so I knew it wasn't them. "Look, Bo-Bae, I know Chae-soo and the girls have a reputation. But honestly, I really think that was just made up by students who are jealous of them being the popular group. And yes, that sounded just as cringy in my head. But what I mean is that they're actually really nice. Okay, so maybe Xiulan needs to work on making passing judgements about people. But other than that, I haven't seen anything in the months I've been here."

She laughed a little at that, but then it turned awkward. "Was I being that obvious it was about her?"

"Just a little."

Bo-Bae led me around the corner, near the janitor's closet. "You're right, Chae-soo hasn't done anything to me, and she seems great. But..." hesitation briefly crossed her features. "...I'm worried if I get too close to her, she might recognise me."
