Scarlett’s POV
“What do you mean Hunter owes you twenty bucks?” I ask my mother, shocked as Louri bursts out laughing holding her side so she doesn’t rip any stitches. “I was not expecting your mother to say that.” Louri laughs out. “Hunter didn’t think you two would end up together but I saw you two growing closer over these past 4 years so we made a bet.” My mother explains. “So you expected my marriage to fail?” I ask slightly hurt. “Oh no dear we made the bet when you and Ryan got sepperated you told me yourself that you knew then that you weren’t going to be able to save your marriage and that broke my heart knowing you were hurting but I had a feeling in the back of my mind that you would end up with Louri even though I never met her till today. Well I still haven’t had a proper introduction.” My mother explains. “Oh. In that case Mom this is Captain Louri Evans of the U.S Marine Corps and she is my girlfriend. Louri this is my mother Melanie Sloan.” I say making introductions. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Miss. Sloan.” Louri says holding out her free hand to shake. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet you too Louri I wish it was under different circumstances but thank you for protecting my baby girl." Mom says teary eyed. “I will always protect her she is safe with me.” Louri says looking between mom and I. “Ok enough with the water works people huh?” Louri’s mom says wiping her eyes. “I agree and Louri please call me Melanie.” Mom says with a smile.

Louri’s POV
We sat and got to know each other a little bit and Melanie is an amazing person Scarlett definitely has her mother’s smile. “So I have an idea.” I state. “Oh what is your idea?” Scarlett asks raising an eyebrow at me. “Melanie may I borrow your phone please?” I ask Melanie. “Of course dear.” She says sweetly handing me her. “Phone ok what’s going on?” Ma asks. “We are going to call Hunter and tell him he owes Melanie twenty bucks.” I chuckle out. “I love this idea.” Melanie says with a laugh. “Hey Mom is everything ok hows Scarlett?” Hunter answers as I have the phone on speaker but before Melanie can answer I speak. “Everything is fine Hunter.” I say. “Who is this and why do you have my moms phone I swear to god if you’ve hurt her I will kill you.” Hunter says protectivly. “Hunter Johansson!” Melanie scolds him through the phone and Scarlett laughs along with my mother. “Mom what is going on?” Hunter asks clearly confused. “Well two things. One you owe me twenty bucks. Two the person you just threatend is Captain Louri Evans of the U.S Marine Corps and Scarlett’s girlfriend.” Melanie says. “Hold on what?” Hunter says confused but I see worry on Scarlett’s face. “That’s right Hunter I’m dating your sister.” I say to him as Scarlett starts figit with my fingers I know how close they are and I understand why she is nervous. “Scarlett?” Hunter asks through the phone. “Yeah Hunt?” She responds. “Can I talk to you not on speaker?” He asks and Ma, Melanie and I all nod at the same time.

Scarlett’s POV
“Ok Hunt it’s just me.” I say taking the phone to my ear. “I am so incredibly proud of you and I am so happy for you.” He tells me is he crying. “You are?” I ask slightly teary eyed as Louri rubs my back comforting me and letting me know she is here for me. “Of course I am! I am so happy that mom was right about you two. I want to meet her. I’m in L.A  what hospital are you at?” He asks. “We are at General Eisenhower memorial Hospital just tell the front desk you are looking for Captain Evans.” I tell him. “Ok sis I am on my way right now I am about 15 minutes away from there. You can put me back on speaker now.” He says so I do. “Johansson what did you say to make her cry because if you-” I cut Louri off before she can finish. “He said he’s proud of me.” I tell her and she breaks out into a huge smile. “Yeah so calm down Cap I’ve got to go see you soon.” Hunter says hanging up. “Looks like I will be collecting my twenty bucks today then.” Mom says with a smile. “Well Louri dear I love you but I am exhuasted from the flight and I need to find a hotel.” Louri’s Ma states. “Apsolutly not.” Louri says sternly. “Louri you might be a Captain but I am your mother so I out rank you would you like to continue using that tone.” Her mom responds. “No Ma’am I just meant you don’t need to stay at a hotel. You can stay at my place like you normaly do when you come to L.A my keys are in that bag over there.” Louri says pointing to the bag with the clothes and possessions she had on her when she arrived. “Thank you dear but how will you get home if I take the truck?” She asks. “Ma I have plenty off ways to get home when they discharge me plus I’ve been staying with Scarlett.” Louri says. “Well in that case thank you I will be back tomorrow.” Mama Evans says before placing a kiss on not just Louri’s head but mine as well. “Melanie, it was a pleasure to get to know you.” Mama Evans says. “You too Lisa. Come on, I'll walk you out so I can meet Hunter when he gets here.” Mom says as the two leave and start to chat. “I’m glad your mom likes me.” Louri says letting out a long sigh. “Me too Babe I’m just mostly worried about dad.” I say and her head snaps over into my direction. “W-why do you say that?” She stutters out. “Babe it’s probably nothing besides he’s in Copenhagen right now.” I say putting my hand on her chest something I know relaxes her. “Scarlett can we talk about what happened today on the beach?” She asks putting her hand over mine. “I think we should now that we are calmer.” I say moving slightly so we can face each other better. “Do you know about the video?” She asks. “Yes I do the media was able to get the last 15 minutes of the fight before the MPs arived. The entire cast is using their PR teams to try and get them to stop playing it on news chanels.” I tell her and she nods. “Baby if there is ever a situation were you are going to be in danger and I am dealling with the threat like today if I tell you to leave then you need to leave.” She says teary eyed. “Louri I can’t do that.” I state looking her. “Scarlett-” She starts but I cut her off. “No Louri Evans you listen to me. I may not have the training you do but I do know how to handle myself off set expesaicly when I have help Robert was willing to help fight but you told him to get me out of there your words were and I quote “ Robert if you can’t get her out of here at least turn around neither of you need to see what’s going to happen.” That’s what you said.” I was going to continue but Louri cuts me off. “I DIDN’T WANT YOU TO SEE ME DIE!!” She yells before breaking into sobs. “Louri did you expect to die?” I ask as tears begin to fall. “Yes I did. I promised to protect you and if I have to die to do so then I will because I love you. It was my love for you that made me able to fight as long as I did. When I told you I love you on the beach I was saying goodbye.” She sobs. “Oh my god I was saying goodbye.” She sobs out again clinging onto my shirt as if I would disappear if she let go. Then her heart monitor starts blaring out an alarm I look up to see that her heart rate is spiking. “I-I c-can’t b-breathe S-scarlett.” She strugles to say. I hit the nurse call button on the wall. Seconds later a Sargent comes in. “Ma’am please step away so we can work he says as more nurses come in I nod and get up but I’m stopped by Louri grabbing my wrist. “P-please d-don’t l-leave I-I d-don’t w-want t-to d-die a-alone!” She pleads as tears fall from her eyes. “You’re not dying Captain you are have a server panic attack.” The Sergeant says as he injects something in her I.V causing her to pass out. Now I panic “Don’t worry Ma’am it was just a sedative to help her body relax.” He says easing my worry. “Ma’am you can’t be here this is a private room.” The Sergeant says looking towards the door. I turn to see my mother and brother with panicked looks on their faces. “It’s ok Sergeant, they are family.” I tell him. “Oh my apologies for my rudeness. I’m Sargent Meyers, the night nurse.” He introduces himself. “What happened do I need to call Lisa and have her come back?” Mom asks with her hand on my shoulder. “No we just started to talk about what happened at the beach and she had a panic attack.” I explain. “So she’s ok?” Hunter asks. “Yeah they gave her a sedative because her heart rate was getting too fast.” I say. “Scarlett I need you.” Louri mutters tiredly. “What do you need Babe?” I ask softly. “I need you to hold me please.” She says I don’t say anything I just get in  the bed and wrap her in my arms the way she held me earlier. “Mom can you lower the bed a little bit so we are laying down but not all the way?” I ask. “Of course sweetie.” Mom says. “Why don’t we come back tomorrow that way we don’t wake her?” Hunter says. “No I really need you guys right now.” I say Hunter doesn’t say a word he just sits in the chair on the left side of Louri’s bed and mom sits on the one on my side of the bed. “She told me that she didn’t expect on surviving the fight and that when she said ‘I love you’ before she passed out on the beach that she was acctually trying to say goodbye. And when she said that out loud I think that’s when it all came crashing down on her all the emotions she was trying to supress came out and she had a panic attack. When the nurse told me to leave I agreed but she grabbed my wrist before I could leave and she told me she didn’t want to die alone.” I say as I let out my own sobs. “Oh sis today must have been hell for you today.” Hunter says running his hand up and down my arm. “The look on her face when Alan stabbed her was pure fear as she made eye contact. The only time I had seen her that scared before was when she had a PTSD episode in my trailer and she thought she was back in Afghanistan loosing one of her soldiers that she thought of family. She told me about him when she had calmed down his name was Devon. Alan is actually Devon’s brother and blames her for his brother’s death that’s what they were fighting about. I don’t think I can ever get that horrible mans voice out of my head. I watched as she fought with everything she had as she was bleeding out all just to keep him away from me. I nearly got the woman I love and have love for the past four years killed.” I sob as I tighten my grip on Louri but not enough to damage her stiches. “If you had never gone to find her she would be dead you gave her another reason to continue to fight you being there probably actually saved her.” My mother says. “You think so?” I ask. “I know so. Hun as much as it broke my heart to see and hear that 15 minute video of the fight I could she how hard she fought to protect you.” Mom says. “You’ve seen it with the audio?” I ask. “Yes sweetie I have.” Mom says before Sargent Meyers came in. “Hey guy’s visiting hours are over everyone except you Miss Johansson have to leave. Miss Johansson you have been given special permission to stay in fact here is a badge that was made for you in case you need to leave that way when you come back all you have to do is show the staff the badge and you will be let in at any hour of the day or night.” He says handing me the badge. “Thank you Sargent” I thank him. “No problem Ma’am I will give you guys some time to say your goodbyes then I will escort you out.” He says before leaving the room and waiting in the hall to give us some privacy. “Goodnight sis. I love you.” Hunter says giving me a small smile. “I love you too Hunt.” I say with a smile off my own. “Alright sweetie I will back in the morning with a bag of some spare clothes and basic toletries since I am assuming you aren’t leaving anytime soon.” Mom says with a smile she knows me so well. “Yeah you are right. Thank you Mom I love you.” I tell her. “I love you too sweetie.” She says before leaving a kiss on my head and leaving along with Hunter. I get in a more comfortable possion without waking Louri and let myself fall asleep.
