The rest of the court session passed through with ease because they were all minor issues the King pushed to avoid staying in court. Cora's mind never left the lady who killed herself before all the nobles.

Her mind never left how convenient it was either. The timing of the case was too perfect for it not to be intentional. The Queen had taken attention away from her army and the food shortage problem by bringing up treason against her.

Although the guilty party committed suicide, her body was ordered to be cut to pieces and fed to wild beasts in different parts of Trevillia. Cora tried to avoid glancing at the queen for the rest of the court session, but she could not.

The woman was very self-aware of what she did; she was too careful for Cora's secret to slip past her. It was only a matter of time before she was found out, and Core did not know if she could do her work under these circumstances.

It was an honour to advise the king at her age, but she could not do it with the Queen breathing down her neck. Lord Bathias explained that was an anomaly, but if she had less to hide, it would be easier to look at the queen with a straight face.

Lord Tolon called from the end of the court session and everyone stood up as the king and queen walked out of the courtroom.. The entire session lasted around five hours, and this could have been the shortest session ever.

Core did not know it took this much to run a kingdom. She could only imagine how the king struggled to the point of asking a young lady like her for advice.

"Next time you show up in this court, sit in a way that will not embarrass the King," Princess Sophia said before walking out of the court.

Cora bowed her head as she walked past her. The little girl did nothing to hold back her tongue, but Cora could not hate her no matter how much she tried. All her anger went toward the Queen from destroying her family.

Some of the nobles stayed to talk among themselves and their loud chatter made the court as busy as a marketplace, but Cora had no one to socialise with. She took this as her cue to leave.

Walking out of the court showed her the same scene as when she entered the court. Nobles whispered as she went past them. If she had to bet, they were still talking about her.

Her little advice at today's court session may have been too normal, but they would look out for her to show her true colours. Cora hoped she never had to show her true self in the court.

She was afraid she would be too harsh on everyone, including the king. An outsider's view of life was very different from those who have lived in luxury all their life as they made state decisions.

Luxury to Cora was having a time with her family but now they were either dead or far away. There was no hope of when she would ever reunite with all of her siblings, and it broke her heart.

She ignored the stares of the noble and walked out of the building in the garden, where she was stopped by two maidens waiting for her.

From their clothes, she quickly recognised them as the Queen's trusted maids. Cora swallowed hard, wondering what they wanted from her. Had she been careless and let something slip in front of the Queen? She was too terrified to find out.

"The Queen has called for you," one of them said.

They did not wait for her to reply as they walked around and walked, expecting Cora would take the initiative to follow. There was no negotiation when it came to answering the Queen's call.

Cora glanced at Jos and Bos waiting by her carriage and they gave them a hand signal to wait for her. She rushed after the two women and followed them further inside the palace.
