A couple hours later I hear my alarm clock ring and I walk down the stairs and I see Marilyn waiting there for me looking nervous. She is wearing her classic blue overalls and her awesome red boots. I smile and I skip the last couple steps.
"Marilyn," she looks up and she smiles at me.
"Y/n are you ready?" I nod my head and we walk out, "Do you wanna drive or would you like me to?" I thought about it for a minute.
"You can drive." We get into the car and Marilyn drives off to Jericho. I look over at her and she looks so adorable lost in thought as she drives. It's so quiet in the car you can hear a pin drop. I'm just glad that it was a comfortable silence and not an uncomfortable one. Soon enough you can hear my stomach growl.
"Did you eat Y/n?" I look away from her and she pulls over to the side of the road and stops shutting off the car in the process. "Did you eat today?" I nod my head. "When did you eat?"
"A while ago. Maybe 12 ish"
"What did you eat?"
"I had an apple."
"That's not even lunch, that was a snack. I haven't eaten yet. We are going out to eat."
"Marilyn, I'm fine with whatever they have at the coffee shop."
"Nope, that's not good enough anymore. You need some actual substance in your system. Not an apple almost six hours ago, and I am also guessing you didn't drink anything either." I shake my head. "Alright to a restaurant it is." She left no room for argument. She starts the car again and she drives into town. "There's this restaurant I have been dying to try. Why don't I park the car here and we can walk there?"
"That sounds like a good idea." We get out of the car, and we end up in front of the Italian place. The only time I really go in here is for my birthday and Mama wants to take me out to dinner.
"Marilyn, no way this is too expensive." I tug on her overalls. We walk in and I start to feel very underdressed for this place.
"Hello, how are you doing tonight?"
"We have a table for two please."
"Of course, right this way please." She takes two menus, and she guides us to a table, and we sit down as she places the menus on the table. "I will be right back with some water."
"Thank you." she walks away, and Marilyn opens the menu and I just look at her. "Are you going to look at the menu?"
"This is too expensive."
"No, it's not. Pick whatever you want darling," she looks up at me and I look shocked. I felt heat rise into my cheeks.
"Are you sure?" She gets out of her chair, and she bends her knees down to where she is at eye level and she places her hands on mine and I stiffen and she goes to pull away. "Leave them" she gives a small smile.
"I am sure about you picking something off this menu as sure as I want to be here with you. Please I want to eat with you but if you're uncomfortable we don't have to do this."
"I'm not uncomfortable, I'm just not used to being on dates with people. I'm not used to other people besides Larissa caring about me."
"Well, I care about you. Don't you forget that." I nod my head. She gets up and she sits down in the chair and the woman comes back to get our drink order.
"I will have a glass of your Pinot Grigio."
"Can I have a root beer please?" I hate how sometimes I sound like a little kid.
"Sure, would you like to look over the appetizers and order something?" Marilyn looks at me and I give a nod. We both quickly looked it over and we both looked at each other when we picked one out.
"Could we get the Caprese Salad?"
"Can we also get the bruschetta too please?" she nods her head, and she writes it all down.
"Alright I will get that started for you and I will be right back with your drinks." She walks away and Marilyn looks at me and gives me a smirk.
"I'm surprised you didn't try to get something with alcohol in it."
"I didn't want it. I don't like the taste of it, Mama let me try her wine and it was way too bitter for my taste."
"So about this being a date..." my eyes snap up at her and the heat rises to my cheeks leaving a dark blush on my face. I moved my hands to cover my face waiting to get rejected but it never came. "Don't hide please you look cute with the blush on. But I am okay with this being a date if you don't mind. I know that it's gonna be weird if I'm going to be teaching you and that this could get really awkward if you shut this idea down or if this date ends really badly..."
"Marilyn you're rambling." She takes a deep breath, and a blush comes across her cheeks, and she takes a deep sip of her wine. "I would like this to be a date. And you are right this could get really awkward if it doesn't go well but I am willing to try. But there is something that I need to tell you before this goes any further than this. Before we get too close, and I tell you this, we break up because of it." a look of concern washes over her face.
"You can tell me anything Y/n nothing you say right now will change how I am looking at you." I nod my head and I take a deep breath.
"Do you remember our conversation a couple days ago about soulmates?" she nods her head.
"Yeah, I do, you say that everyone has one and that soulmates have a red string tying them together. And that Normies can't see the string." I smiled at the fact that she was listening to me.
"Yes well, I may have also lied to. I have met my soulmate."
"That's great but why did you agree to this being a date if you know your soulmate. You should be on this date with her, not me."
"Marilyn you're my soulmate"
