Broken

Chapter 1

"You gonna hold it for me or what?" Antonio asked Adam, who was busying sending a text message, Adam looked up from his phone. Antonio pointed to the heavy bag "you're gonna hold it, right?"

"Yeah, yeah" he said as he tossed the cell phone on the bench "sorry, about that" he said as he stood holding the bag bracing himself as Antonio landed punches.

"You got a hot date or something" Antonio asked him between punches, "it's about time you get back on the horse, Wendy left what six months ago?"

"Nah,it's nothing like that man" Adam lied, he wasn't ready to announce that he had started seeing Kim Burgess. "I'm good thanks" he laughed, he really was good the happiest he had been in a long time.

"I hear you, chicks are crazy" he laughed "I'm done, thanks for holding the bag man" He said as he pulled his gloves off and took a bottle of water from his bag "you hitting up Molly's tonight, my sister is bugging me to bring people in"

"Not sure, I have some things to take care of, but maybe" he told him, already having made plans to go to Kim's.

"What kind of things?" Antonio asked arching an eyebrow.

"Just things" Adam said shrugging "nothing big"

"Whatever you say man, see you later" he said as Adam headed toward the locker room.

He watched her as she jogged along the lake, he couldn't believe how little attention she paid to her surroundings, it was so easy to watch her it was almost laughable.

"You are so predictable" he mumbled as he pretended to be on the phone, he really wanted to grab her now and it took all he had to let her run by him just a few minutes ago. "Be smart, man you're only going to get one chance" he reminded himself.

He watched her stop and pull her phone out a smile forming, he would swear she even blushed a little bit and then tucked her hair behind her ear the smile not leaving.

He had enough and made his way back to the van, he couldn't be so close and not let her know he was there.

Kim unlocked the door to her apartment and tossed her keys and iPhone on the desk, kicked off her sneakers and headed to take a shower, Adam would be over soon.

Adam parked his truck and made his way up the steps into Kim's building, a guy sitting in a green van caught his eye, it looked familiar but he couldn't quite place it. Shrugging he carried on his way.

He knocked twice, "hey you!" Kim said as she pulled the door open and pulled him in by his shirt "I've missed you" she said before kissing him.

"That" Adam smiled "that was a very nice way to answer the door, you don't do that for every guy, do you?" He smiled as they both sat down.

"Only the really hot ones" she teased "so, tell me we are going out tonight and not staying in" she asked.

"Dawson said everyone is heading to Molly's, do you want to go?" He asked he knew if they went it would be hard to keep his hands of her "but if we go I can't do this" he said as he pulled her onto his lap and kissed her.

Kim broke free of his kiss "we'll just have to take care of business, now don't you agree Officer Ruzek?" she said as her lips moved to his neck.

"Totally" he whispered.
