Chapter 9

"Here's an update on Ray Thompson" Hank said before they got to work on their case for the day "his parents are big wigs in a auto dealership in Detroit, they have locations all over that city, and politicians in their back pocket" he said "Needless to say Thompson has walked from any criminal charge he's ever had against him" he looked over the rap sheet again "from the time he was about 10 years old and stole a bunch of video games to five years ago when Burgess had him arrested for domestic abuse" his anger building when he read about the miscarriage but he kept that to himself.

"He has done nothing illegal, yet" Al said "so, what do we need to do"

"I'm not worried about Thompson, I'm more concerned with Ruzek" Voight said as he closed the file "lets keep tabs on Ruzek"

Adam sat on the balcony as he drank his coffee, Kim still sleeping. It had been three days since Kim had come home with him and he was tired of hiding her from Thompson.

Kim spied Adam sitting outside, she grabbed a bottle of water and joined him "you want some company?" She asked as she sat in the chair beside him.

"Listen" he said softly as he turned his chair so is was opposite her's their knees touching, his hands on her thighs "I'm going to your place today" he paused "just to talk to this guy, and to tell him to leave" he could see her discomfort "I will be fine"

Kim thought it was a terrible idea "Adam, you can't" she replied "he's too dangerous and by now he has to be furious with me"

"I'm a big boy, I can handle him" he told her "if it makes you feel better, I will call Halstead or Atwater and they'll come with me" he said as he placed a kiss on her forehead.

Kim didn't like it at all "I'm going with you" she said flatly "don't even try and stop me" she needed to be with Adam, she needed to make sure he would be okay.

As they pulled up Jay's car was already parked, Jay leaning against it, as he watched Adam and Kim park he headed towards Adam's truck "you ready to do this?" He asked Adam giving him a quick hug.

Adam nodded "yeah, he's got to get out of here" Adam said as took Kim's hand "you sure you want to come in" he asked again wishing she would have stayed at his place.

Kim squeezed his hand "yes, please be careful"

Ray had saw the first guy pull up and had been watching from the window ever since, he was thrilled when he saw Kim and Officer Scrawny Ass show up, he knew exactly how he would play this.

"CPD" Jay yelled as he pounded on the door.

"Hang on, I'm coming" Ray yelled and pulled the door open "what can I do for you?" He asked, Kim hiding behind the two cops.

"You" Adam said "can get the fuck out" he snapped, he was having a hard time staying calm as Kim had requested.

Ray saw Kim try and pull the pretty boy back "Kim" he said with mock concern "I've been so worried about you, when you didn't come home to the other night" he was saying when Kim cut him off.

"I want you to leave Ray" was all she was able to say, Ray reached out to hold her hand.

That's when Adam couldn't contain his anger, he lunged forward and had his forearm against Ray's neck and pinned him against the wall "keep your fucking hands off her, or I will kill you, do you hear me?" Adam felt someone trying to pull him off of Ray and he heard Kim begging him to stop.

"Ruzek, let him go he isn't worth it" Jay said finally getting Adam off the guy.

Kim was in Adam's arms "I'm sorry" he whispered in her ear, he pointed at Ray "you have 24 hours to get out, and you better be gone" he said as they left the apartment.

Once they left, Ray smiled he knew exactly how this would go down. "Cops can be so stupid sometimes" he said to himself, he couldn't believe that other cop had given him pretty boy's last name. Ruzek. Adam Ruzek.

"It was nice knowing you Officer Scrawny Ass, I mean Officer Ruzek" he smiled "Sorry for you, but Kim is mine" he whispered.
