Pale gold beams of sunlight streamed through the grand glassless windows of the stone castle.
In the shadows, creatures hissed and snapped, agitation causing them to be restless.
Cherri pulled her long crimson robe around her, giving her a weak sense of security.
A shaft of light landed on her, illuminating her against the bleak grey of the castle.
She glanced over her shoulder. Slotted neon green eyes bore into her, hidden just within the shadows of the hallway.
"You can go," She snarled, turning away, "You cannot hurt me."
"No," The shadows shifted, revealing the movement of ebony green fur, "But I sure can try."
She flicked a hand, still staring down at the lush fields far below in the valley, "To Hell with it all."
