I was sitting idly on the bed. Ever since Rayi left to tell the others about my theory, it's been awfully quiet up here. If I could, I would run down to them and let them hear a piece of my mind about them deciding about something that I'd be cursed with for all eternity.

While I was trying to think of ways to make them understand that all of this was extremely wrong, I heard a bunch of soft footsteps making their way up the stairs. (A/N For some reason, this is one of the weirdest sentences I've written in a while...)

Balling my fists and sitting up a little straighter on the mattress, I stared determindedly at the door. Just you come inside...

If I can't give them a piece of my mind, I'll give them the most soul-eating stare the world has ever seen. They shall feel my wrath.

The footsteps were closing in on the door, and by the time the door handle started to move my eyes were slits.

And with a click, the door opened, creaking mockingly. The first person to set foot into the room was Alerus and the moment his eyes met mine, his always serious and professional facade faded. It was replaced with something I've never seen in this place before... true amusement. And as the others stepped into the room one after another, they all shamelessly laughed.

To say I was annoyed was an understatement. I was furious. And incredibly embarrassed too...

I slowly relaxed my facial features again to stop giving them a reason to laugh.

"What's so funny, you dimwits? Does it look like I'm laughing?" I croaked out, cheeks burning.

Surely my ears were as red as a tomato too...

"Oh, it's nothing," Alerus was the first one to compose himself again. Fricking professional...

While the others were still snickering in the background, Alerus stepped forward.

"We've discussed the treatment of your curse mark. Rayi will lift the curse and replace it with a harmless one," He stated as he threw Rayi a glare that made him shut up immediately.

The others seemed to return back to their senses too.

"Yes right. If you don't mind, please get comfortable on the bed on your stomach whilst Alerus and I prepare the procedure," Rayi said.

By the time I watched them start shuffling through the cupboards and getting all kinds of tools that looked like scalpels of different sizes, My gaze wandered wordlessly to the others.

"Do you mind telling me what that harmless curse is going to be?" I asked, sighing.

I had already surrendered to my fate at this point. I couldn't fight them anyways.

Grimm seemed to snap out of his daydreams after he and the others had been staring at me for a minute straight.

"Right. We figured that since you struggle to brush your hair so much, we'd just do that for you. So the curse will basically worsen your hair condition when you brush your hair yourself, but not if somebody else does it for you," He concluded, smiling kindly at me.

I scrunched up my eyebrows, dumbfounded.

"But couldn't you have picked something that's useful? You could've literally given me superpowers... Instead you forbid me to brush my own hair?" I questioned, confused.

"You know that we couldn't have possibly done that. And you don't need superpowers as long as you're with us. Try to look at it a little more positively: You have an excuse to never brush your hair yourself anymore! You will enjoy it, don't worry," Rei helped Grimm out.

Of course they would exploit the situation to their advantage. That had been clear to me in the beginning, but I still couldn't help but feel a little disappointed and betrayed.

I silently averted my gaze from the men standing in the door frame and carefully laid on my stomach. It was hurting pretty bad, but it had definitely become better as time passed. That blood they have forcefully been making me drink did their job after all.

While the shuffling from the cupboards came to a stop and the smell of disinfectant started to envelope the room, I rested my head on my arms and looked at the wall, away from the curious eyes.

"You know you can't stand in the door frame forever, right? Move along and get rid of that thing downstairs. It was making annoying sounds earlier," Alerus' voice sounded through the room.

"Right, right... Please be careful with Faer," Rosen muttered as I felt their presence disappear from the room.

I guess it's going to become serious now.

When I felt the two men approaching I let out a silent sigh.

It was hard to prepare yourself for something that was going to set new boundaries to your pain tolerance.

It was definitely less painful to have somebody slash your back in a few quick motions than have somebody do it slowly and with a ton more details. I didn't really know what the mark on my back looked like by now, but I knew that it had become very complicated and big after I saw Rayi's drawings. And the worst part is that he needs to basically redo the whole mark to lift the curse, and after that he has to set the base for the new curse...

As I closed my eyes to prepare myself for the pain, I felt cold air brush my back. I was sure the scalpel would pierce my back at any second now, but instead I felt my arm being pulled out from underneath my head, making my head fall face first into the pillow.

"Oh, sorry," I heard Alerus mutter. "I'm just going to inject you with something that will make you sleep deeply for a while, alright?"

Wait what? I thought we were going to do this while I was conscious? Since when did they have the medical equipment to sedate somebody like this?

I let out some indistinguishable grumbling into the pillow.

Next thing I know, I felt something prick my arm.

Usually I'm no crybaby when it comes to pain, but that sensation was straight up disgusting. I felt the needle being pushed deep into my skin and it took at least a minute until Alerus pulled it back out again. I don't think I want to know the exact amount of liquid that just forcefully entered my body.

When I was getting drowsy and my eyes started to fall close slowly, I heard Rayi sigh.

"This is going to take some time I guess..."
