SAFE AND SOUND, Alec was at home with his family, who were glad he was saved when he came home, they all tackled him into a tight hug. Alec had been in a few situations with his life on the line, and with all of them, his family was distraught for him. And every time another happened, they began to worry that he wouldn't return home this time. Alec tried to reassure them, but it never worked, as they would always worry for him no matter what.
Today was Alec, JJ, and May's last full day in town before heading back to school, and they were spending it together. Alec's family, which included JJ and May's family, was at the Sanchez household having a little get-together just to be together. Everyone was doing their thing within the house, but they were all together, which is what mattered.
Alec, May, and JJ were with Alec's cousins, Susannah, Oliver, and Harry, in the living room, watching a movie. They were all sitting on the couch or the floor. Athena, Angelica, and Hector were seated at the kitchen table, talking as Bobby and Olivia cooked in the kitchen, jumping into the conversation of the three now and then. Amelia, Elena, and Julian were in the dining room talking with Amelia, helping the married couple with design choices for their house. Malachai and Diego were sitting on a couch in the living room, the kids talking, as Malachai held a sleeping Isaac in his arms.
Everything was right, and Alec couldn't help but look around the packed house at the people he cared so much for and be thankful that he had them. He honestly couldn't imagine not having any of them by his side to encourage and help him become the best person he could be.
Things were great in Alec's life.
The doorbell rang, cutting off everyone's conversation. They paused, wondering who it could be. Angelica stood from the kitchen table and answered it while everyone else returned to what they were doing. Alec could hear his grandmother faintly talking to someone, but it seemed more like arguing. He patted May to have her stand from his lap before standing up himself and heading to the front door to his grandmother.
