"Arthur, I have a plan..."

- Dutch Van Der Linde

Drake's perspective

After the ""battle"" with Herobrine, we had continued on our journey to the hatchery.
But something about it all seemed...
Off...
very, very off...

A sword appearing out of thin air? Killing Herobrine, then disappearing? Somehow leaving me alive? My head hurts trying to comprehend it.

At least, that's what Grayson told me had happened.

We were walking down the remnants of a gravel path, when I spotted something up ahead, around the corner.

Mercenaries.

I quickly put my back to a large tree.
"Grayson!"
"What? What is it? What's wrong?" Grayson asked.
I grabbed Grayson's arm and pulled him next to me. Mia followed suit.
"There's mercenaries." I whispered.

"Of course there are..." he muttered.

Samuel was walking slightly behind us all, and almost got spotted, but I caught his attention in time.
"Samuel! Here!" Grayson whispered loudly.

"Remember those people we were telling you about, the ones from the Empire?" I asked
"No, not-." He paused for a moment, thinking.

"Oh, never mind yes, I remember now."
"They wanted you executed, right?"
"Yeah, well, there's some of their mercenaries up ahead." I told him.
"How many?" Samuel asked
"Uh," I quickly peeked out to check.

"There's only two of them, but they're pretty heavily armed."

"Hm."
"Ok, I've got an idea..."

"I hate it when he says that..." Grayson said quietly.
"A good one..." Samuel clarified
"At least in practice, anyway..." He added, mumbling.

"More than likely, they don't who I am yet."
"So, I might be able to cause a distraction..."

"And that distraction is?" Mia questioned.

"I'll pretend that I've just been robbed, then lead them away, while you run ahead." He explained

"Samuel, no mercenary is going to go out of their way to catch some random criminal." I told him

"Not unless that random criminal's description happens to sound a lot like a certain someone who took a certain egg."

"That might just work." I spoke.

"I take back everything I've said about your ideas, you're a genius." Grayson said.

"Alright, here goes nothing..."
Samuel then ran out from the corner, toward the mercenaries.

"Hey! You there! Who are you?" One of them boomed.
"Oh, thank goodness I found someone!"
"My name's Bond, James Bond, I've just been robbed!" He cried out.

"You have to help me!" Samuel pleaded
"I'm sorry but you're going to have to find someone else, we have important business."

"Wait, Will, hold on, what if it's the thief?" The second mercenary chimed in.

"Come on Evan, you always do this."
"There's no chance it's him."

"What thief?" Samuel asked, pretending confused.

The first one sighed.
"Oh, there's some blonde lunatic who stole something from the Empire." The first one explained.
His words made me cringe.

"Wait, did you say, blonde?" Samuel asked
"Yes, I-" the first one started

"Wait, he wouldn't happen to have green eyes, and a grey jacket, would he?" The first one asked, hopingly.
"Yes, actually, he did look like that!"

"Did he have, an egg? By any chance?" The second one asked excitedly.
"Uh, yes, I think so." Samuel replied.

"Evan, do you know what this means?" The first mercenary asked.
"No, not-"
"My Notch! We found the egg thief!" The second one realized.

"Where did it happen?" The first one asked ecstatically.
"Follow me, I'll show you."

With that, Samuel led them away.
