More Mysteries...

1858, Penong Palace :

It was a dark, cloudy night, when a messenger told Wei Ying that his aunt would like to meet with him. "About time!" he thought, hastening outside.

Reina stood waiting for Wei Ying , looking as serene as ever, though a small smile flickered on her face.

"Let us take a walk," she said as soon as Wei Ying approached.

They walked on, till they reached Reina's cottage. "So," said Reina, smiling slightly, "How are you faring, my dear cousin? "

"Oh, really well," Wei Ying was sarcast in his reply. "I have no idea why you brought me here, I don't know who you are, I don't know why I can't tell anyone anything, and I don't know why I resemble this Wuxian or whatever she was , and that man YanZhang resembles Lan Zhan. This is insane!

Why are you doing this to me?"

"Look, " Reina was calm, her tone restrained , almost cheerful. "again I will tell you that I brought you here so that you could get some answers."

"I haven't got any yet- " began Wei Ying hotly, but a hand silenced him. "As I said, when you go back, you will get all your answers."

"You said I might know someone from your family," said Wei Ying. "Whose family? Mine? Lan Zhan's? Cheng's? Huan's ?"

"I said you might know someone from my family, dear ," said Reina, smiling slightly. "I never expressly said you did."

"Oh, will you stop talking in riddles?" Wei Ying hissed in anger.

Reina glared at him. "I didn't risk everything to help you just so you could start interrogating me!" she snapped. "At the time, all you were curious about was Lan Zhan! All you cared about was Lan Zhan and Lan Zhan! "

"Fine, let's talk about him," Wei Ying retorted, not giving up at all. "Who the hell is YanZhang ? Is he related by blood to Lan Zhan ? Why do they look so alike?"

Reina paused a heartbeat before she answered. "Yes, they are- but not in the way you think." Her smile was curiously enigmatic : Wei Ying wanted to punch her.

Then her smile vanished. "And why, may I ask, are you so interested in him?"

"I'm not!" protested Wei Ying . His voice wavering, "I'm- "

Wei Ying stammered.

"That's what I thought," said Reina softly, and now she looked more worried than ever. "Give him up, Wei Ying. Give him up. You are not meant to be. It will cause you nothing but heartbreak in the future."

"Then- then," Wei Ying looked hurt, his voice shaking slightly, "Am I related to Lady Qing somehow ?"

Reina shook her head, still looking troubled. "No, you aren't."

"Then?" Wei Ying was confused as hell. Reina shook her head again. "I'll tell you later. Once you get back your memories."

"You'll give them back?" Wei Ying was ecstatic, unable to believe his luck.
