CHAPTER 28 --"Saving Lan Zhan..."

Chapter 28

Saving Lan Zhan .....

Wei Ying was walking. He knew he was walking, but his surroundings were hazy, as though they did not matter very much more. But he was still walking, determined to reach his goal...but what was it?

The air around him cleared and he was standing on a beautiful meadow...flowers dotted the ground and the sunlight washed over him ...and then he saw him.

Right in front of him , bleeding, fallen on the ground. Unmoving and unconscious. His blue-grey eyes stared blankly upwards...

'LAN ZHAN!'

Wei Ying woke up, sweating and shaking.

Now awake, he realised he was in his hostel room...on his bed. The moonlight filtered inside, falling on his arm.

A nightmare, thought Wei Ying. It was just a nightmare...calm down, he told herself, trying to calm his agitated mind.

Lan Zhan is absolutely fine, it was a dream and nothing else...

Unbidden, the terrifying image of Lan Zhan's blank face swam in his mind's eye, and his heart stopped beating for a second. Wei Ying could not get rid of the image, it had been too real...

He glanced at the time on his phone.

2:03 am. Would it be too late to call him up?

Vampires don't need sleep, idiot, his mind reprimanded him.

He dialled Lan Zhan's number. Voicemail. His trepidation increased. Who could he call for information?

Reina would have been the best choice, but he didn't exactly know how to contact her now, did he?

Alex. He could call Alex.

His palms sweaty, he dialled Alex's number.

Alex's phone rang. And rang. And rang.

After the fourth try, Wei Ying gave up and dropped the phone on the bed.

What if- what if, something had gone wrong? What if Lan Zhan had been hurt? Wei Ying couldn't stand this awful suspense, not knowing what had happened.

He took a deep breath and counted till ten. Slightly calmer, he made his decision.

A very hurried fifteen minutes later, Wei Ying was creeping out of his hostel, a shawl over his face and upper body, careful not to wake the sleeping guard.

He knew the way to the Wangs' house. It wasn't that near, which meant that he would have to walk very fast...

Haikuan didn't have to wait long.

The door opened almost instantly, and the pretty teacher he had met at the party stared at him, looking almost angry...? 'Oh, it's you,' she said. As if she had expected someone else. 'Well, what is it? Do you need something?'

'No, I-' Haikuan didn't know how to tell her. 'Your friend needs you- she asked me to take her to you. She's...not in a good condition.'

The effect was immediate. Mia's eyes widened and her face paled in horror. 'Alex ?' she said. 'Where? How did you find her?'
