NO ONE'S POV

"Kiss me." Walker said.

Delphi looked at him with wide eyes.

Her crush/best friend told her to kiss him, on a technicality again.

The two's mindsets couldn't be more different in the moment.

Delphi was thinking about her dad. How he seemingly didn't want the two together. She was thinking about Walker, the song she was writing about him, his request. She wanted to, but her dad was stuck in her mind.

Walker could only think of how beautiful his best friend and crush looked in the soft moonlight. The glow of the stars illuminating her features, adding a hidden depth to her face that was rarely there if you only spared her a glance. He wanted her to kiss him, but he couldn't believe he had told her to.

Delphi shut her mind off.

She leaned forward and kissed him, pouring all the confusing emotions and conflicting interests from the past few weeks into the kiss they shared.

Her hands moved around his neck, one hand tangling into his hair as Walker's hand moved to her face, cupping her cheek, while the other rested on her waist.

The position was quite awkward seeing as they were on the floor, but neither of them could care about it.

They were completely focused on one another, on their kiss. Their first real kiss with each other, and the first kiss that had ever held so much emotion.

Delphi couldn't believe it was happening. She thought they'd always be just best friends, never do anything like this with each other.

Walker was ecstatic. She's his best friend, his beautiful best friend, but they weren't supposed to fall for each other. It was unspoken, but there.

And yet here they were, pulling away from each other to catch their breath. Both of them looking away from each other to hide their deep blush as they smiled at the stars.

WALKER'S POV

Holy shit.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop repeating the phrase in my head. I have to say something to break the silence between us.

"Alright, I take it back." I decide, making Delphi look over at me with a weird look.

"What do you mean?" She asks before looking back up at the sky.

"You're not an okay kisser." I elaborate. "You're a really good kisser."

"You're an idiot." Delphi starts laughing.

Soon, we're both laughing uncontrollably, struggling to breathe as we lay on the floor. I stand up, trying my best not to laugh, and pulled Delphi off the floor.

"We better head back to the hotel." I sigh dramatically, checking my phone. "It's only 10 but we weren't supposed to stay out past 9."

Delphi sighs dramatically, just like I did a moment before. "Fine."

We start walking back to the hotel, a confortable silence between us the entire way.

When we get there, we go up to our room and I immediately turn on my Xbox, ready to play some video games.

Delphi rolls her eyes and comes to sit with me, laying her head in my lap like we always do. But something was different this time apparently, because it gave me butterflies.

I shook my head to get rid of my thoughts at the same time Delphi opened her book and started reading.

This works. Me playing video games and her reading in my lap. I could do this forever.
