Over the course of the twenty minutes it took her to get back to her apartment, she consistently worried about how her best friend was going to react to all this. Would she actually consider her insane for her unconventional relationship? Or would she immediately go out and hunt Eric down, just to give him a piece of her mind?

When she stepped into her apartment, she was immediately greeted by Salem, her black short-haired cat. He mewed and rubbed himself against her leg, purring loudly. "Hi Salem!" She exclaimed, bending down and scooping the feline up into her arms, giving him a big hug. "Did you miss me, little guy? I'm sorry I've been gone. It's been so damn crazy like you wouldn't believe."

After setting her purse down, she turned and carried him into her hot pink, white and black modern chic bedroom. Since she wasn't a fan of floral, her decor consisted mainly of faux fur, jungle prints and lots and lots of pink. The furry area rug and throw pillows, curtains, the velvet, vintage button chairs, even her carpet and walls were pink. She had always wanted a dream bedroom and about a month before they passed away, her grandparents had splurged and given her just that.

Realizing she still had Eric's hat on and was touching Salem, she decided to tread carefully. She wasn't sure whether or not he actually gave her the hat, but if she got cat hair on it and he asked for it back, he would surely kill her. Letting Salem down, she walked out of her bedroom to quickly wash her hands then came back in, flopping down on the black and white damask comforter and sighing wearily. "Ugh...what a fucking weekend. You have no idea how much I wish I were you, Salem, then I could just sleep all day and not worry about all these submissive duties."

Looking down the length of the bed, she saw Salem had already stretched himself out at the far corner of it. He was staring at her, a watchful expression on his face, his tail gently swaying back and forth.

"I know you have no idea what that even means," she went on, "but I really got way in over my head this time. You think Courtney will forgive me?"

Salem meowed and slowly turned his head away.

She exhaled sharply. "Yeah, I know, I'm screwed."

A few minutes later, as she was just starting to fall asleep, she heard the apartment door open followed by Courtney's voice. "I'm home! Amy?"

Shit. It was the moment of truth. Literally.

"In here!" She shouted, slowly pushing herself up to a seated position.

She heard a rustling of a plastic bag then Courtney entered her bedroom. "Hey, there you are. I brought some leftover sushi. Zack actually decided to do something nice and treated everyone to lunch today for Heather's birthday."

"Mmm, sushi," Amy beamed. "I just ate not too long ago, but I could definitely go for some sushi! You're the best. Thanks girl!"

Courtney returned her smile and shrugged, tucking her hands into the back pockets of her jeans. "Thank Zack. He bought extra only because he knows how much you and I love it. Nice hat by the way." The five-foot-five, bright blue eyed brunette walked to the other side of the bed and jumped onto it. "Did you steal it from Dr. Master's apartment?"

She giggled. "Not exactly. He's letting me wear it today."

Courtney snickered. "What? You just called him up and asked him if you could wear it?"

"No...actually, there's something I need to tell you, about him...and about what happened Saturday morning with...him and me."

The smile on her best friend's face faded and was quickly replaced with a grave and wary expression. "What happened! Did he...did he come home?"
