the next day consisted of dominic showing hazel "his world". he introduced her to his people, his life outside of them and one another.
there hazel was, a dinner with his chosen family. they had heard all about these people, dom referencing them when he was opening up to them and hazel knew this was special to him.
dominic was very protective of these people, there was valentine. a stunning woman much older than the two of them who acted as an older sister to dominic. she guided him through difficult times in his life. he admired her like no other.
hazel couldn't help but feel the same and it wasn't just her. dominic had friends he referred to as brothers and a heart so big it wasn't possible it fit into his body.
and they couldn't lie to themselves, they loved him for it."when's the last time you brought a girl home." hayden, dominic's best friend asked and dominic rolled his eyes.
"they aren't a girl. they're non-binary and stop being weird" he replied, it wasn't like he was repulsed at the idea of being with hazel. he was far from it, in all honesty the thought had crossed his mind often.
there were times, when they were alone lying on the floor of his studio where he had the undeniable urge to showcase every bit of love he had for hazel. he wanted to shower them with love and affection, protect them from the world, keep them close but he never did.
instead he opted for the innocent approach. sweet little kisses on the forehead, innocent looks, small gestures and his vocalization on how he perceived them. never once forgetting to mention how kind and beautiful he thought hazel was, inside and out.
"its not like that" hazel informed as they took a sip of their drink and dominic couldn't help but smile, as he turned to hazel looking them in the eye. "not yet atleast" he said causing hazel to blush.
hazel sipped on their drink smiling at the word 'yet' as it lingered in their head. after dinner was over, dominic said he had a surprise for hazel which made them anxious.
there they were, sitting in the passengers seat of his car listening to the man groan about la traffic. he seemed to be in a hurry. "where are we headed" hazel asked looking around to see if they could guess their destination
"didn't i say trust me, just relax" he assured and hazel nodded closing their eyes as they let dominic take them wherever, accidentally falling asleep.
it wasn't until dominic rested his head on their shoulder, that they woke up. he chuckled to himself as he watched them adjust to being awake. "we're here" he said as he hopped out the car and opening the car door for hazel.
hazel couldn't tell where 'here' was, but it was chaotic to say the least. "i have a show today and i wanted you to be here with me" dominic said as he placed his arm over their shoulder and walked into the back entrance of the venue.
and just like that, the pacing of the day changed completely. dominic was rehearsing, going back from one room to the next talking to staff about audio issues and soundboard equipment. he was on an entirely new plane and it was so fascinating to observe.
it wasn't long until it was showtime and dominic took a deep breath as he heard the crowd calling on him, it felt good. "good luck, break a leg." hazel said as they waved him goodbye before security lead them into the crowd and just like that, he felt ready.
he rushed on stage once the music started, singing his heart out and hazel felt electrified. the screaming around them from others possessed them to do the same and soon enough they were completely lost in the music.
"you guys are fucking live tonight, didn't know yall missed me this bad" dominic joked chuckling into the mic. screams and cheers erupted from all over.
"i'm really happy to be here, you know. it's a special day for me today. i brought someone really special to me here, and so i'm dedicate the last song for the night to them, the lovely hazel mariah montgomery" dominic said and the crowd bursted into a fit of cheers and claps.
hazel began to feel flustered as double negative started, feeling fuzzy inside as he sang to them. it was his song for them and hazels worries just disappeared as they enjoyed this moment.
in the blink of an eye, it was all over and there hazel and dominic were in his dressing room, and the high of the night was coming down. "i'm glad you came" dominic said and hazel replied with a small smile. "i'm glad i came too" hazel responded as they crossed their legs on the couch.
"i think we should talk, about us." dominic bluntly stated and hazel felt their throat tighten. "what about us" hazel questioned and he turned his head to the side. "come on, hazel" and they sighed
hazel's brain fried as they tried to properly get their words to match their feelings. it was difficult explaining what he was becoming to them because they didn't fully understand it.
"i don't think i know how i feel about you right now" hazel confessed and they wanted to scream. thats not what they wanted to say, not really and somehow dominic knew that. "i don't think thats true." he replied
"i don't think i'm ready to accept how i feel about you" hazel rephrased and he nodded "that makes more sense" and hazel bursted into a fit of laughter. "i know you're still processing what happened with imani and i'm not too sure i'm in a place where i can be with someone right now but, i do wanna be close to you" he confessed,
hazel couldn't believe what they were hearing. 'close' what did that mean to him. they were going to question it, they had to but before they got a chance dominic inched his face closer to their and they kissed.
he kissed them like no ones ever kissed them before and hazel felt themselves melting into him. falling apart at every movement he made. this was it, all the feelings towards him they kept locked away it was like he was bringing it out of them. hazel was in love with him, this they knew for sure.
