Chapter 18

》Park House

"Here, drink this. It will make you feel better." Mr. Park affirms, handing over a cup of hot chocolate to a downcast Jimin.

"Thanks.." Jimin weakly murmurs, accepting the drink with his dull eyes fixated on the floor.

Seeing his son's gloomy expression and sitting on the sofa in misery made Mr. Park is sympathetic toward his son.

After all, he is the one who urged Jimin to marry Jungkook to save their family. He couldn't help but feel responsible for his son's affliction.

"Don't worry, my son. I'll get you out of this mess somehow. I don't know how, but I will! I'm the one who got you tangled in this twisted state. I promise to get you out of this mess." Mr. Park consoles his son while gently caressing Jimin's back, who felt low-spirited after the little incident with his husband. 

'Appa will break you free from this misery, Minah. How dare that Jeon make you cry! I shouldn't have sent you in Minji's place to marry that brat. I should have fleed from here when I had the chance.'

Jimin couldn't help but feel despondent and dispirited after seeing his husband strom off angrily. Therefore, he sat on the couch with a dejected expression and stared at the ground as if it's the most interesting thing in the world.

He wanted to cry & let everything out of his heart, but he didn't want to worry his Appa & younger sister by weeping like a baby. Hence, he gathered up all his emotions and gazed emptily as he tried to clear his mind.

But it's shocked him to the core hearing Mr. Park blaming himself out of guilt. It wasn't Jimin's intention to make his Appa feel remorseful or responsible for his dejected state.

Jimin looked at Mr. Park with wide eyes and face clearly evident of utter astonishment.

"Appa, what are you saying!?" Keeping his cup on the coffee table, he takes his Appa's hand in his, "It's not your fault. I agreed to marry Jungkook to protect our family. At that time, you made the right decision. Because I married him, Minji was able to marry her true love & have a happy life with Soyeon." Jimin vouches in a serious tone.

"Ye, she found her happiness with her true love, but what about you? What about you finding your happiness and true lover? My foolish decision trapped you with that arrogant mafia king. I took away your chance of falling in love and marrying someone you love. Instead, you are stuck in this fake & forced marriage with a ruthless mafia. It's all my fault. I'm sorry, Minah!" Mr. Park censures himself for everything and sincerely apologises.

"Aniyo, Appa. Don't say that. Please don't blame yourself. Jungkook doesn't treat me poorly. He takes good care of me. I'm the one who keeps pushing him away, and I feel repentant for lying for him when all he is nice to me... I know this was a forced marriage, but I can't help but feel guilty for hiding my identity from him & deceiving him." Jimin voices out, honestly. He reassures his father & defends his husband.

"I-I'm s-sorry m-my son." Mr. Park tears up, hugging his son tightly, making Jimin shed tears as well.

It hits him hard observing his father, who never asked anything in return for taking care of the three of them, crying while sobbing audiably. Jimin couldn't help but let his guard down & let tears roll down his cheeks.

Rosé who was leaning against the door frame, witnessing the father and son duo's interaction, also burst into tears and let out loud sobs.

Noticing his younger sister crying in a corner, Jimin signals her to join the hug with outstretched arms. Rosé quickly strides to her brother & Appa and envelopes herself in Jimin & Mr. Park's warm embrace.
