My Captain

Chapter 18

Sophie was in the conference room with Sarina and Millie looking at them 'Leah is struggling with anxiety about being a cold captain not wanting to disappoint everyone' she said Sarina looked 'it's too late to change anything for todays line up but we can do something with the next game let her have a rest and one of you be captain' she said looking at them as they both nodded. Sophie looked at Millie 'Just keep an eye on her please' she said as the other vice captain nodded.

Soon enough they were at Old Trafford going through their warm ups as the fans started piling into the stadium. They all went back in and got their kits on. Sophie slid the captains armband up Leah's arm with a smile pecking her lips 'You've got this cap' she said with a smile as Leah nodded heading to the tunnel. Sophie followed the rest of her team out shaking her arms and legs with a smile and looked up as they sang the national anthem and got ready for the game to begin.  Sophie smiled at Leah and winked as the game kicked off Sophie ran up the pitch and then started to call for the ball as it was passed to her it was intercepted Sophie ran back to help defend. Nothing g much really happens until Georgia plays an over head ball Sophie looked and ran to the ball taking it on her chest and volleyed it. Sophie heard the ping off the crossbar and then cheers erupted around the stadium. Sophie ran off and slid on her knees in front of the England fans and laughed as the team jumped on her. She got up and hugged Leah kissing her cheek gently and went and got back in position. Nothing else happens for the rest of the half. They all come out for the second half and played their hardest it was the 69th minute and she looks as some subs were ready to come on and saw her number in red she went over to the touch line clapping the England fans and hugged Ella who was coming on for her and shook hands with Sarina and sat on the bench she pulls her jacket on and sipped her water and jumped of her seat nearly when Leah was fouled and started swearing at the player 'Sarina pushed her back into her seat Stop it' she said 'you'll get booked' Sophie glared at the player as she looked over and scurried off. Soon enough the final whistle went and Sophie went straight to Leah checking on her 'You ok?' She asked looking at her Leah just nodded and wrapped her arm around her with a smile 'Nice goal baby' she whispered into her ear. 'Sophie Leah media duties' Sarina called out Sophie sighed and went over with Leah to the side of the pitch where they were doing interviews 'So thanks for joining g us Sophie and Leah ' Alex said. 'Glad to be here they both said with a grin and a laugh. 'So Sophie quite a goal ' she said looking her with a smile. 'Yeah I didn't know it had gone in until the crowd started cheering. She smiled 'And Leah what did you think about the goal?' Alex asked  'well what can I say it was one of the best I've seen her score' she said looking at her 'I couldn't be prouder' she said looking at her girlfriend. 'Leah can you tell us what happened with that tackle' she asked      Sophie looked down slightly hiding a slight smirk 'Well she didn't go for the ball she just took the leg though no injury so everyone can relax' she said with a smile 'And this one has a potty mouth' she said squeezing Sophie's waist gently 'She's protective of the whole team but especially me for obvious reasons' she said like a light chuckle as Sophie grinned 'Sarina is like Sophie's adopted mother at times one of the few that can get her to shut up' Leah said as Alex laughed 'well thanks for your time guys

They smiled and walked off to the fans Sophie took a few photos with the fans and handed a little girl her shirt and gave her a hug Sophie walked off the pitch after Leah carrying her jacket and went into the changing rooms.
