  Grace's POV

My name is Grace Parker. I'm 16 and I never think that a little action from me will change my whole life. What did I do? I SAVED THE MAFIA KING

The school day finally dragged to a close, and I felt a mix of relief and dread as we made our way home. The sky was overcast, mirroring my mood. "What a shitty day," I muttered under my breath, kicking a pebble along the sidewalk.

"Seriously, Grace? You're still on that?" Twinkle shot me a sideways glance, her usual brightness dimmed just a little by the gloomy weather. "You really think you did that badly?"

"Absolutely," I groaned. "I can't believe I blanked on so many questions. I might as well have written my name in invisible ink."

Lara laughed, nudging me playfully. "Hey, at least you're entertaining! But really, I think you're being too hard on yourself. You always pull through."

Twinkle chimed in, "Yeah! Plus, you know those exams weren't even that tricky. You probably did better than you think."

I rolled my eyes. "You say that because you're at the top of the class! It's easy to be confident when you know you're going to ace everything."

And then, suddenly, I saw him,a boy, running for his life. Blood soaked his shirt, and my heart raced as I instinctively sprinted toward him. "Hey! What happened to you?" I shouted, breathless. "Who shot you?"

He didn't respond, his wide eyes fixed on me, filled with a mix of fear and desperation. I tore off my scarf and pressed it against his chest, desperate to stop the blood. "Please, talk to me! I need to know what happened!"

He continued to stare, but I could see the panic in his eyes. "WTF is he looking at?" I thought, frustration and fear swirling inside me. Just as I tied the scarf tighter, a series of gunshots echoed in the distance, sharp and jarring.

Before I could even react, he scooped me up into his arms, his grip strong but urgent. "Don't even dare to move a little bit or you'll get shot," he said, his voice low and fierce.

I felt my heart drop. "But..."

"No buts!" he snapped, eyes darting around us. "You need to trust me.

I closed my eyes and let that guy protect me, the adrenaline coursing through my veins. After what felt like an eternity, the gunshots finally stopped. Cautiously, I opened my eyes, only to feel my heart drop, the boy was gone.

"WTF was that? Where the hell is he?" Panic surged through me as I scanned the empty street. Just then, I saw Lara and Twinkle running toward me, their faces pale with fear.

"Are you okay? What were you thinking? Are you crazy?" They both cried, wrapping me in a tight embrace, their voices trembling with concern.

"I...I don't know!" I stammered, still processing everything. "I just... I had to help him!"

Lara pulled back, her eyes wide. "Help him? Grace, you could have been shot! What if something happened to you, idiot?" Her voice cracked, the tears spilling over.

"I'm not the kind of person who plays the hero," I murmured, confusion washing over me. "But I couldn't just stand by and do nothing..."

Twinkle squeezed my hand, her grip firm. "We were terrified! We didn't know where you went, and then we heard the shots..."

As Lara helped me to my feet, I felt the weight of their worry pressing down on me. We started walking home, but my mind was still racing. "Why did I help him? Why did I put myself in danger?" The questions tumbled through my mind, each one more insistent than the last.
