No one's POV
Grace was momentarily speechless, her heart racing as she took in the sight of Bright standing before her after three long years apart. Neither of them could find the words to bridge the gap of time and distance; they simply locked eyes, each caught in a whirlwind of emotions.
Finally, Bright stepped closer to her chair, and the confusion on Grace's face turned to disbelief. "Bright... You came back!" The words tumbled out, and before she could think twice, she stood up and threw her arms around him.
The embrace was immediate and electric, as if they had been waiting for this moment forever. Grace held on tightly, and Bright reciprocated, both of them clinging to each other as if their lives depended on it. In that instant, the rest of the world faded away. There were no distractions, no light, no darkness, just the two of them enveloped in a cocoon of familiarity and longing, their hearts speaking a language that words could never capture.
Bright's POVAngel had orchestrated this entire meeting, ensuring that Grace would apply to my company. It felt like a perfect way to bring her back into my life, but this time, I was determined to keep her safe, no matter what.
Now, as I held the girl I had always loved in my arms, my heart raced. She was so close, nestled against my chest, and I held her tightly, terrified of losing her again. After three long years, she was finally here with me. I could feel how much we both missed each other, and the weight of those lost years hung heavy in the air.
"I missed you so damn much, princess," I murmured into her ear, my voice barely above a whisper. I could feel her shudder slightly as she held on tighter, and I continued, "You don't know how much I missed you when I didn't find you that day at the hospital after my coma. I felt like you left me and took my heart and happiness with you. I cried for you to come back, but you were already gone. I prayed to God, wished on every star I could find, but you were so far away."
As the words poured out, I could hear the cracking in her voice, a soft sob escaping her lips as she began to cry. My heart ached at the thought of the pain she endured because of me. I tightened my grip, wanting to shield her from that hurt.
"Trust me, princess, I know how you felt," I said, my voice low and sincere. "I was in more pain when I had to leave you. I couldn't eat or sleep for days, knowing you might think I abandoned you. But please, hear me out...I had my reasons. Just give me a chance. Give us a chance."
I gently rubbed her back, leaning back just enough to see her teary face. With my thumbs, I wiped away her tears and pulled her into another tight embrace, wanting to erase the hurt between us.
We stayed like that for a while, and eventually, I pulled her back a bit to look directly into her eyes. "I'm sorry, but I didn't have a choice at that time. The only way to keep you safe was to stay away. I never meant to make you feel abandoned or hurt. I just thought it was the best way to protect you from the dirty world I come from."
I searched her eyes, trying to convey everything I felt, the remorse and the desperation. Then she spoke, her voice heavy with emotion. "You think I'd be happy waking up from a coma after three damn weeks, not seeing the man for whom I took the bullet and faced death just to save?"
Grace's POV
I knew, deep down, that Bright was right. He had stayed away to protect me, and I could see how much it hurt him, just as it had hurt me over the past three years. We couldn't change the past or go back in time to make everything right, but we still had the power to shape our future. Giving ourselves a chance was the first step.
"Please don't leave again. I don't think I could bear it," I admitted, my voice trembling with fear. The thought of him disappearing again sent a chill down my spine.
"Never," he replied firmly, his eyes locking onto mine. "I'll stay with you forever. And don't say you'd die if I left, please, promise me you'll live for me, for us." His fingers gently ran through my hair, and the warmth in his tone enveloped me like a comforting embrace.
"Then stay, please stay," I urged, my heart racing. "Stay because I've been loving you for quite some time."
No one's POV
Grace spoke those words without fully realizing she had confessed her feelings for Bright. He was taken aback, a surge of joy flooding his heart at the realization that the girl he had loved from the very beginning loved him back. Gently, he cupped her face in his hands, searching her eyes for any hint of uncertainty, but he found none.
"Say it again. Tell me that you love me too, just as much as I love you. Please, princess, say it," he pleaded, his voice tinged with desperation. It was as if he were begging her to confirm what he already knew in his heart: that she was his.
Grace smiled through her tears. "I love you, Bright. I love you so damn much. Please trust me when I say that I love you, Bright Smith, like I've never loved anyone before." Her confession hung in the air, precious and undeniable, and he knew he could never lose it.
With that, Bright leaned closer, closing the distance between them. He lifted her chin gently, placing a soft kiss on her forehead, then on her eyes, her nose, her cheeks, her jawline, and finally, capturing her lips with his. It felt just like their first kiss, passionate and flawless, a perfect union of two hearts that had finally found their way back to each other.
