"Figure It Out"- Royal Blood

******

Me and Vlad sit at the bar, watching the girl that everyone seems to be interested in. She's turned away about 7 guys so far, including Vlad, and my chances don't seem to be good. "What's the odds she'll say yes to me?" I ask him, frowning as yet another guy tries to flirt with her.

"1 in infinity," he laughs, and my frown deepens as I reply,

"Haha, very funny."

"No seriously, I tried everything on her, and she said I was almost there. She said she liked my Russian charm but isn't looking for a relationship." I think for a moment before asking,

"What's her name?" Vlad shrugs.

"She wouldn't tell me." I laugh.

"We have a stubborn one on our hands," I say, and he agrees, nodding. We sit and watch her reject a couple other guys until one comes over that's particularly drunk. I bite my lip as he grabs her arm, tugging her out of her chair.

"Let go of me your drunken imbecile!" She shouts, trying to punch the guy, and that's when I intervene.

"Get the f**k off the girl," I growl, gripping his arm tightly and punching him in the face. He stumbles back and lets go of the girl, holding his nose. I glare down at him as he spits,

"Find your own b**ch!" He gets up and stumbles out of the bar as I turn to the girl.

"Thanks, I guess," she says, reaching out a hand. "I'm (y/n)." I grin widely, shaking her hand and taking a seat beside her. (y/n) smiles as I tell her simply,

"I'm TJ Oshie." Her eyes light up.

"Wait, it's really you? Oh God, that's so cool, thank you so much!" She leans in and hugs me, to my surprise. "I'm sorry if that was creepy, but I'm just a big fan." I smirk and answer,

"Well right now I'm a big fan of you, would you like a drink?" (y/n) holds up a beer. "Oh."

"You can buy one for yourself if you want," she laughs, taking a sip, and I nod. I order the same as her, and as we talk I start to notice something. She's opening up to me, not turning me down.

I feel special, I think as we move on to hockey. She's never played, moved to St. Louis from Washington state when she was 5, and has been a fan ever since. I'm holding back on the usual things I say to pick up girls cause I have a feeling I'd be dismissed in a second. I watch (y/n) talk for a minute before commenting, "I just wanted to say that I feel really honored that you haven't kicked me to the curb yet." She laughs,

"That's cause you haven't used any of those stupid pick-up lines most guys try. You actually are willing to have a friendly conversation with me, and I like that." I blush--wait what? (y/n) giggles and pokes my cheek, laughing some more as she gets out, "You're so adorable, TJ!"

"Uh, th-thank you?" It comes out as more of question, and (y/n) smirks. I'm slightly confused as she asks,

"Are you an Apple technician?" I shake my head. "Cause I think my phone is broken. Maybe your number can fix it?" We laugh together as I say,

"I've never heard a woman use a pick-up line before, I'm impressed." (y/n) looks proud as we exchange numbers. "Can I buy you a drink now?" I ask, and she smiles.

"Sure, why not?"
