They cautiously made their way down the creaky basement stairs, with Brian leading the way and Diya closely following behind, her hand gripping the string of the old lamp. As they stepped into the dimly lit space, Tabitha's eyes scanned the area, searching for any sign of danger.

Suddenly, she spotted a thick and lengthy stick lying on the ground, and quickly picked it up, using it as a makeshift weapon as they ventured further into the dark tunnels. Brian, ever the protector, positioned himself in front of Diya and motioned for her to stay back, determined to investigate the strange noise they had heard earlier.

As they ventured into the basement, their grip tightened with fear. The darkness enveloped them, concealing the secrets of the shadowy tunnels that seemed to stretch into infinity. With each step they took, they were drawn deeper into the abyss, uncertain of what lay ahead. The air was thick with mystery, and the only sound was their slow and steady footsteps echoing through the eerie silence.

Tabitha, looking as nervous as a turkey on Thanksgiving Day, made several attempts to convince the others to abandon their quest and return to the safety of the upstairs. It was like watching a horror movie where the scaredy-cat character was trying to persuade the rest of the group to leave the haunted house. Needless to say, her efforts were as successful as trying to teach a cat to fetch.

Despite the fear that crept up inside her, Diya stood her ground and refused to back down from her quest to uncover the source of the mysterious and unsettling noise that had come from the basement. She was determined to get to the bottom of things, no matter what it took.

Diya's heart was racing with fear when she heard the high-pitched, shrilling sound again. She looked around nervously, trying to locate the source of the noise. Brian's eyes widened with alarm as he noticed a faint light glowing at the end of the dark basement.

He gestured urgently for Diya and Tabitha to follow him, and despite their terror, the two girls obediently trailed behind him, their bodies shaking with anxiety and dread. Brian's heart skipped a beat as he entered the icy room. The air was thick with an eerie silence that made him feel like he was being watched.

As his eyes adjusted to the dim light, he was startled to see a brightly lit shrine at the far end of the room. But as he approached it, a chill ran down his spine. There, at the centre of the shrine, lay a cat skull wrapped in a shroud cloth, like a macabre lollipop. The sight made Brian's blood run cold as he realized he was not alone in the room.

Diya's eyes widened in disbelief as she caught sight of Caleb. He knelt on the cold marble floor of the basement, his body swaying in circles with an almost unnatural intensity. The flickering light of the shrine cast a ghastly shadow over him, making him appear as if he were possessed by a malevolent spirit.

She could hear the sound of his ragged breaths echoing off the walls as if he were in the throes of a frenzied trance. It was a terrifying sight, and Diya couldn't help but feel a shiver run down her spine as she watched on, transfixed by the strange and unnerving ritual.

When Tabitha saw Caleb's condition, she looked like she had just seen a ghost. She quickly backed away from the room, muttering to herself, "I didn't sign up for this kind of horror show!"

As Diya turned her gaze towards Caleb, she felt a chill run down her spine. Caleb was holding the Book of Shadows tightly and chanting an eerie mantra with his eyes tightly shut and his body swaying back and forth. The room felt darker and colder as if the very air around them was charged with ominous energy. Diya's breath caught in her throat, and she felt a sense of dread creeping up on her.

What was Caleb doing with that book? And what kind of dark forces was he summoning with his strange ritual?

As Brian nudged Diya to take a look at the altar, her heart was already racing with anticipation. But what she saw next made her blood run cold. There, in front of her, was a cat skull and a shroud cloth that was tied up, with her photo placed right in the middle. The shock and horror she felt at that moment were too much to bear. She couldn't believe what she was seeing and couldn't help but wonder what sinister meaning lay behind this terrifying display.

"What the hell?" she muttered in shock.

Brian leaned in and whispered to Diya, a hint of doubt in his voice, "Do you think Caleb is lifting the curse off you and the mansion?"

"I highly doubt it, Brian," Diya whispered back, her voice trembling. "He's completely possessed by some malevolent spirit."

As Diya saw Caleb acting weirdly, she couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine. The black-veiled woman had been haunting them for weeks now, and Caleb's strange behaviour only added to the terror. But little did she know, it wasn't just the black-veiled woman who had taken hold of Caleb's body. Something far more sinister, far more powerful, had taken control, and it was only a matter of time before it made its presence known.

Tabitha's voice came from the back, sounding frantic, "Guys, we should leave this place now!"

Diya and Caleb were standing in front of a tightly-tied shroud cloth, their curious eyes fixed on it. Suddenly, they noticed something strange happening where the cloth started to slowly unravel itself, revealing what was hidden inside.

As the cloth fell away, they were all taken aback by what they saw. Several gleaming golden needles, each one looking sharper and more deadly than the last, glinting in the dim light. The air grew cold around them as a sinister feeling crept into their bones.

They had stumbled upon something that was not meant for the living, something that had been hidden away for a reason. The needles seemed to be beckoning to them, daring them to come closer and unravel the mystery that lay before them. But as they stood there frozen with fear, they knew deep down that they should have never uncovered what was hidden beneath the shroud cloth.

Caleb's voice echoed eerily as he chanted the ancient mantra from the Book of Shadows. As if possessed, the needles levitated in mid-air, their sharp tips glinting in the dim light of the room. Suddenly, they all darted towards a photo of Diya placed on the altar. No one could explain what was happening, but the air was thick with an ominous energy that left them all feeling uneasy.

As if something sinister had taken over her body, Diya felt a sudden, excruciating pain in her abdomen that made her double over and gasp for air. The pain was so intense that it felt as if a thousand needles had pierced through her skin.

To everyone's surprise, blood was oozing out from the photo instead from Diya's body. Caleb continued reciting chants while pushing the needles further and further into Diya's photo. There was a moment when the air was incredibly dense, and Caleb's mantras grew more intense. Suddenly, the cat's skull got crushed due to the increased pressure.
