"I'm not convinced that the Manors are behind what happened to you girls," Diya said sceptically to the little girl.

The girl smirked and responded, "You don't believe me because you have feelings for a Manor, right?"

Diya's face contorted with anger. "Say that again and I won't be able to assist you."

The little girl seemed unfazed. "No need to be defensive, I already know everything," she said calmly.

"Alright, what's my name then?" Diya asked, putting the girl to the test.

The girl smiled and said, "You're Diya Isabella Brown. Emily Brown's granddaughter."

As Diya's eyes scanned the eerie surroundings of the shrine, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. How did the girl know her full name? Was she even human? Diya couldn't help but wonder if there was something supernatural at play here. She surveyed her surroundings and noticed some peculiar objects, like a cat's skull and some shroud needles wrapped in cloth.

But try as she might, she couldn't recall what had happened before she was overcome by excruciating pain and lost consciousness. The air around her felt charged with an unknown energy, and Diya couldn't shake the feeling that she had stumbled upon something otherworldly.

"Sure thing, little one. I'll lend you a hand, but we must agree on something," Diya said firmly.

As soon as Diya promised to help, the girls lying on the floor abruptly stood up and turned their heads towards her in perfect unison, their eyes fixated on her. Diya felt a chill run down her spine as she gazed at them, wondering how they moved so unnaturally like robots. The way they stared at her with unblinking eyes was enough to send a shiver down her spine and make her heart race with fear.

Grasping tightly onto Diya's pinky finger, the little girl took a serious oath, "I swear to keep this hush-hush from your friends upstairs."

Diya was astonished by the girl's understanding and couldn't help but sheepishly nod, her face revealing a bashful smile. Suddenly, the girl and the others vanished into thin air, leaving the basement engulfed in darkness once again. The candles, which had been lit when the girls appeared before Diya, were now completely extinguished.

Diya's heart raced as she quickly ascended the basement stairs, each step creaking beneath her feet. She breathed a sigh of relief as she reached the top, her hand trembling as she slowly closed the door behind her, hoping not to make a sound.

As she took a deep breath, a sense of relief washed over her. She was grateful that nobody else knew about the incident that had just transpired. Her mind was fixated on the innocent girls who were trapped in the basement of the mansion. She was determined to help them escape and free their souls. However, despite her determination, there was a niggling feeling at the back of her mind that something was not quite right.

"Why had the Manors used Emily's mansion basement to perform the ritual on those innocent souls?"

It was a question that kept Diya up at night, haunting her thoughts and filling her with a sense of dread. She couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story than what she knew. Perhaps there was some hidden motive, some dark secret that the Manors were hiding. Or maybe they were just evil, twisted people who enjoyed inflicting pain and suffering on others.

Whatever the case may be, one thing was clear the Manors had done something terrible, something unforgivable. And now, the question remained.

Would they ever be brought to justice for their crimes?

Diya's mind was spinning with confusion as she tried to make sense of why the Manors were involved in the paranormal activity at the mansion. As she pondered the possibilities, a sudden realization hit her like a ton of bricks.

What if the Baxters were the ones who had caused the haunting and cursed the property in the first place? Could they be the ones who had created the Book of Shadows that seemed to be at the center of the supernatural occurrences? What if he had only pretended to sell the mansion to take it for himself and continue the ritual?

As she contemplated the possibility of Caleb being a Baxter, a sudden surge of anger and suspicion bubbled up within her. Her teeth clenched tightly in frustration and disbelief, as these thoughts consumed her, making it hard to focus on anything else.

As she made her way up the stairs to her room, she muttered to herself, "I suppose it does make more sense. After all, the continuation of the ritual would be of great benefit to him and his family."

As Diya tip-toed across the room trying to avoid waking up Tabitha, she stubbed her pinky toe on something hard. She'd never felt such pain before! She tried to hold it in, but all she could manage was a muffled scream. When she looked down to see what it was, she realized that it was her grandmother's diary.

"If only grandma had written a warning on the cover," Diya thought to herself, "Caution: Diary can cause severe pain if stepped on".

As she laid her eyes on the diary, a shiver ran down her spine. She couldn't comprehend how it had suddenly appeared there, out of nowhere. Her mind raced back to the incident in the basement and she wondered if it was connected somehow. She felt uneasy after the mysterious appearance of the diary that sent shivers down her spine.

Diya's mind was cluttered with thoughts as she hastily stuffed her diary into her bag. As Diya looked towards Tabitha, who was snoring louder than a chainsaw, she couldn't help but wonder if she was auditioning for a role in a new horror movie.

Taking advantage of the moment, Diya tiptoed towards the door, trying her best not to make any noise. With a gentle hand, she pushed the door shut and descended the stairs with caution. Her mind was set on getting answers from Caleb, and she knew she had to meet him in a place where they could talk in private.
