"I'll go check on Mila." I got up from the couch and walked towards the door. "Thanks for everything, Jesse. I don't know what I'd do without you." I leaned in and kissed him softly, feeling a little guilty for my outburst but also grateful for his unwavering support.

He followed me upstairs and we saw Mila sound asleep, her small body curled up on the bed. I felt a pang of guilt in my chest as I realized how much stress and tension I had been carrying around, and how it had affected those closest to me. Jesse wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer, his lips brushing against my hair.

I laid down beside Mila and stroked her hair. She shifted slightly and hugged me in her sleep, burying her face in my neck. I smiled, feeling a sense of comfort and security wash over me. Jesse's words echoed in my head, reminding me how lucky I was to have him and Mila in my life.

Jesse tucked me in and he climbed in bed with me as I snuggled with Mila. He wrapped his arms around me, holding me close. It felt so good to be in his arms, to feel his warmth and strength. He was the only one who could make me feel safe and protected. The only one that could do that. Forever.

"When would I be able to join work?" I asked and Jesse smiled.

"Whenever you want baby. You're gonna be my assistant. I don't want you to worry about money or anything. You can focus on Mila and yourself." Jesse kissed my forehead. "We'll figure it out. And we'll always have each other. No one can take that away from us." He wrapped his arms tighter around me, holding me close.

He kissed Mila's forehead and whispered something in her ear, making her giggle softly. I smiled, watching them together. It was clear that they had formed a special bond, one that I was grateful for. Even though Mila was only a toddler, she seemed to understand the love that Jesse and I shared, the love that they had for each other.

I woke up next morning and it was still early. Mila was sound asleep on my chest, her tiny hands curled up under her cheek. I smiled, kissing her forehead. She looked so peaceful, so innocent. I couldn't help but think about the future, about the life we would have together.

Another one of these cute things? Yeah we'll see about that.

I noticed Jesse head out of the bathroom, looking refreshed and well-groomed. He caught my eye and smiled, walking over to the bed and carefully lifting Mila from my chest. She yawned and stretched, her tiny arms reaching up for him. He kissed her forehead, his brown eyes twinkling with love. "Good morning, sleepyhead. How about some breakfast?"

"Mmm, breakfast sounds good," I replied, sitting up in bed and stretching. Jesse placed Mila on the bed and she crawled over to me, wrapping her arms around my neck. "Are you excited to go to the playground today?" I asked her, ruffling her hair.

"Mhm-hm!" she squealed, her big hazel eyes shining with excitement.

I smiled and kissed her cheek. "If we both go to work, who's gonna take care of her?"

"My mom would. Don't worry about that." Jesse said, smiling at me. I could tell he was trying to reassure me. "Or we could always find a babysitter, you know. We'll figure it out together. We always do." He placed his hand on my shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze.

Mila got a little fussy, maybe she's hungry. "Jes could you get her bottle?"

He nodded and kissed her forehead before heading to the kitchen. I laid down beside her again, watching her play with her stuffed animals. She had this one rabbit that she always slept with. It was a little threadbare, but she loved it. I wondered how long it had been with her.

As I watched her, I couldn't help but feel grateful. Grateful for Jesse, for Mila, for this beautiful little girl who had brought us all together. Even though things hadn't always been easy, we had managed to find our way through it. And now, with Jesse's support, I felt like anything was possible.

Jesse came back with her bottle and sat down next to me on the bed. He carefully handed it to Mila, who took it with a big, satisfied smile. "There you go, sweetie. Now you can eat." He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, and watched her as she drank her bottle.

I glanced at Jesse and smiled, thinking how lucky I was to have him. He was not only an amazing father figure to Mila, but he was also a wonderful partner to me. He was patient, kind, and supportive, always there when I needed him. And not just with Mila, but with me too. He had helped me through some tough times, and I knew that I could always rely on him.

As Mila finished her bottle, she crawled over to me and wrapped her tiny arms around my neck. I kissed her forehead, feeling a warmth spread through my chest. She was such a special little girl, and I couldn't imagine my life without her. I knew that we would face challenges in the future, but I also knew that we could face them together.
