Chapter 2: Mother nature's daughter

Almost 12 years later

Emerald's Pov

I woke up to the sound of chirping birds and decided to go and take a shower, after bathing l wore a blue off shoulder dress that is below my knees and combed my hair leaving it loose. My black hair is so long that it's almost the height of the dress am wearing.

I applied lip gloss and powered my face a little bit, l went to my balcony and jumped off, seconds after my beautiful green crystal wings appeared and l flew down gently.

My house is in the highest tree in the forest and don't think that it that bad looking, it's quite modern with all the necessary things l need.

The forest hums with life all around me. I twirl about, gazing up at the canopy, searching for the birds that sing sweetly. The sun breaks through the cracks, lighting up the dirt path ahead of me, decorated with outgrown roots, wildflowers and fallen leaves that crunch beneath my bare feet. This is life.

After a beautiful morning walk, l found mother drinking tea at wooden table and decided to join her. "Good morning mom" l said sitting across her. "Morning dear, aren't going to the university today?" she said pouring tea for me too.

"No, we have an assignment so l will go to Rose's place later after my shift at the cafe."

"Oh okay have a good day then, l have something important to do." she said standing up ready to leave.

"Bye mom see you later" l said waving my hands and she disappeared.

It's been almost 12years since l started living here with mom. I never heard about Mrs Ever again since that day and I can say life is much better. It turns out that l have to do two transformation, one my nature side which l completed four years ago and two my wolf form which is still pending but l can feel my wolf and talk to her.

My first transformation l grew crystal wings and my eyes turned to Emerald green, l guess that's where my name came from. I have nature powers which are controlled by Emmy, my other counterpart, l can grow things, speak to animals, hear people's thoughts if l want to, and fly of course.

Mom taught me how to control them and my first test was to create my house which l passed with flying colours, l made the most beautiful tree house. I started working at the cafe two years back for all my necessities of school. I have a scholarship at Clifftern Ford University.

The University is full of many different species including humans but they know we exist and some of them do not know. That's where I met my four best friends, Rose, Rachel, Trevor and Wayne.

Rose and Rachel are twins and both witches whilst Trevor and Wayne are wolves of Crystalmoon pack which is the neighbouring pack of my former pack, Greenfield.

I whistled and soon my animal best friend who also gives me a ride to the road when I want to go somewhere.

'hey hunter, ready for us to leave.' I mind linked him patting his head, oh l forgot to mention he is a lion, a big one by the way.

'Yes forest princess.'he said in my head and lowered his head for me to climb. The animals call me forest princess because am mother nature's daughter.

After a short ride, I got off hunter and bid him goodbye when we were almost near the road, we wouldn't like attracting humans when they see a girl riding a lion, right. I arrived at the cafe and checked my time on my phone, am five minutes early.

I went to the changing room and wore my appron, leaving my stuff l went to the kitchen. "Good morning Mrs Martha." I greeted her entering the kitchen. She is in her mid forties and very kind. She is the owner of this cafe and chef.

"Good morning to you too Emmy." she said smiling and walked out of the kitchen. She calls me Emmy which boasts Emmy's ego to the next level.

'You see, I'm more respected by people than the respect you two give me.' E mmy said which made me and Emma, my wolf roll our eyes at her.

At 2:30pm l finished my shift and started packing my stuff when Samantha my colleague walked in. " hi Sam today you came a little bit late you know." I said chuckling as l know how much she hates to be late. She is friendly and the same age as me.

"Do not get me started, while coming here a truck splashed muddy water on my clothes so l went back home to change again." She said with an annoying voice and l just chuckled.

"So sorry, anyways bye gotta run." I said smiling

"Bye, have a nice day."

I sighed when l was walking to Rose's house that quite far away but l choose to walk to save money coz l might need something. 'You know we can just fly there.' Emmy said while I was crossing the road.

'Yeah right and so she can attract people's attention.' Emma chipped in with sarcasm laced in her voice.

'I am not talking to you, dog.'Emmy said leading to hearing a loud growl from Emma.

'Who are you calling dog , you featherless chicken.'

'Looking at me do you see a chicken and besides my wing are more beautiful because the were crafted by mother na.......

'Blah blah blah,are you done chicken.'

'Hey stop calling me chicken!'

'You're the to complain when you started it.'

'I started it? stop talking nonsense, dog'

"Don't call me do......."

'Enough!!!! both of you stop it, okay' l said tired of them fighting. Having two people in your head is sometimes a headache because of their constant bickering.

The rest of journey was filled with silence until l reached Rose's house. I rang the doorbell and the door was opened by Rose's mother. " Good afternoon Mrs Hannah, is Rose and Rachel home? "

"Hi dear come in, they're upstairs." She welcomed me in her house sweetly.

I knocked their door twice when l went upstairs and l was greeted by an ogar when the door opened. " Woah, what's on your face? " I said looking at her face covered with green stuff.

"It's guacamole, l found a video online saying it's good for your skin." Rose answered as l sat next to Rachel on the sofa.

"You honestly look like an ogar, l thought you were Shrek's sister." I said which earned a laugh from Rachel and I joined in.

"yeah that's true, maybe you're Shrek's lost sister." Rachel said and bursted out laughing again.

"Hey stop teasing me, you'll see my skin more beautiful then you won't laugh at me again." Rose said throwing a pillow at us.

"Guys you know we have an assignment, so let's first finish it and then have fun." I said taking out my papers from my bag. They all nodded and their stuff too.

After an hour of writing we finally finished. "So guys what to do since we finished early?" Rachel said packing her books. "Let's watch a movie." Rose said and we all nodded.
