New beginnings

Panic

Lilys POV

It was the last day of 7th grade, I had begged my dad to let me stay off school and he let me but not without making me agree to meet his new girlfriend today instead.

I said yes as i knew that it would be a matter of time before she left just like the others, I knew I would become attached like i did before so this time i am going to keep contact with her minimal, i cant survive another person leaving me.

At 9am my dad came to wake me up to get ready as we were going to his girlfriends house for the day which i was not happy about but at least it would be better than going to school. The only reason i tolerate school is because of my two best friends Adeline and Harry but they both aren't in school today so thats why i begged for the day off, i cant survive a day in school without them.

"Lils come on we have to start getting ready, Scarlett cant wait to meet you" Dad said whilst ripping the covers off of me

"Dad please I just want to sleep" I replied taking the covers back and burying myself in them

"Right come on squish, you will love Scarlett and she loves you already she has gotten loads of snacks and movies planned for today" Dad said trying to convince me to get up

After getting no reply he ripped the covers back off and picked me up with my arms around his neck and carried me downstairs to the kitchen, i snuggle into his chest.

"Squish i know you are scared, but i promise Scarlett isnt going to leave, this time it is different and i will be there the whole time"

Still hugging my dad i nodded into his chest and i promised him i would give it a go today, me and my dad had a close relationship, after my mom left us we only had eachother but i always wished that i would have a mom who would hold me and tell me everything would be okay, i know my dad does that but it feels like i have a whole in my heart where i am craving for more.

"Dad can you carry me back upstairs to get ready please" I asked whilst smiling back up at him knowing he would cave in

"Anything for you my lazy girl" he smiled at me making his way back upstairs

"heyy im not lazy" i made a pouty face at him and he chuckled before dropping me back into my room.

"okay if you say so squirt, get dressed whilst i make some breakfast and then we can go"

I nodded and went to pick an outfit out, even though i didnt want to go i still wanted to make sure i looked nice

In the end i decided to go with something casual, i dont normally do my makeup but today i just put some mascara and blush on.

After brushing my teeth I walked back downstairs to see my dad at the table waiting with pancake in the middle of the table, i went to him and hugged him before sitting down, i normally dont eat breakfast on the weekends as i sleep in til lunchtime but i know dad wouldnt let me lesve without eating something.

Dad and I started eating and when we were finished v i took the plates and put them in the dishwasher whilst Dad was getting his stuff ready for the visit today.

I sat back down on the kitchen barstool and checked my bag to see if i had everything and knowing that it was getting closer to the time to leave i started to feel anxious, i started to panic and felt my chest tighten, this couldnt be happening at a worse time, i felt like i couldnt breathe

My dad came into the kitchen and rushed over to me carrying me to the sofa and putting me on his lap pushing my head into his chest.

"Lily listen to my chest okay remember what i told you breathe in and out" my dad told me trying to get me to calm down

"i c-cant daddy"

"yes you can lily, listen to my heart and follow my breathing"  my dad was speaking to me but i couldnt hear anything, his voice was all muffled.

Colins POV

I saw Lily panicking and i knew she was having a panic attack but i tried to get her to breathe using some of the techniques Scarlett told me to use but it wasnt working, we were meant to go to Scarletts house and i knew she would be up so i called her asking her to come her instead

*on the phone*

Colin-Hey baby, Lily is having a panic attack and the techniques you told me arent working can you please come over im sorry"

Scarletts POV

I woke up today at 7 and made sure to run to the store to get some of Lilys favourite snacks before they arrive, Colin told me that they would be coming at 10 so i figured i would have enough time to do a food shop before.

As i was putting the bags into my trunk, Colins name popped up on my screen, i put them all into the trunk and answered the phone whilst sliding into my car

Colin-Hey baby, Lily is having a panic attack and the techniques you told me arent working can you please come over im sorry"

As soon as i heard that i told Colin i was on my way, even though i originally planned for the meeting to be at my house i didnt mind, the store was only 10 minutes away from Colins house and i have a key as Colin gave me a key for emergencies, i tried to hurry up as i know what a panic attack feels like, even though i have only seen pictures of Lily i felt a connection with her and i will love her the same as my own daughter Rose

I walked into the house immediately spotting Colin with Lily on his lap, i try and be as quiet as possible to make sure i dont scare Lily

"Hey sweet girl my names Scarlett, you need to breathe baby" i speak in a soft voice to not overwhelm her

To my surprise she doesnt try and move away so i gently place my hand on top of hers and hold it

"Sweetie i need you to look at me and copy me okay"

Lily turned around and faced me, i started to inhale and exhale and she started copying me and started to breathe more normally, her face red and her blood shot eyes made my heart break knowing she was probably stressed over today.

Colin kissed the top of her head as Lily hugged Colin even tighter and i smiled happily knowing that Lily was okay now.
