One Strange Family

The Flower

"Mal, wake up love." said Diaval softly. Maleficent slowly opened her eyes looking up at Diaval. "Are they gone?" she said quietly. "Yes, we should start walking again." Diaval suggested. They both stood up and started walking out the cave. Soon they were walking on the path they needed to go to reach the top. "Ugh, why can't we just fly?" whined Diaval. "It's to dangerous Diaval." Maleficent hughed. "We're almost there anyways. Keep a sharp eye, I don't want to be stuck in surprise attack." After a few more minutes they reached the top of the mountian. "Ok Diaval we're looking for a purplish flower that looks like a lily and grows on land." Maleficent said. They walked cautiously trying to stay alert. "Mal." Diaval whispered. "Hm." Maleficent said. "We might want to hurry a bit." Diaval whispered back. "Why? Do you see something?" Maleficent asked. Diaval turned her around to where ge was looking. Near a rock was a big creature with two sharp teeth sticking out it's mouth. It had long sharp spike on it's back and the tail was shaped like an arrow for stabbing. It also had sharp claws that looked like they could dig into hard metal. It also had big ears that looked good for hearing. "I see your point." Maleficent said shakily. The creature was sleeping so they had to be careful not to wake it up. They walked around trying to find a glowing lily but with no luck they didn't find one. "Why does everything have to be so hard?" Diaval complained. Maleficent looked around and found that right above the creature on the rock he was laying next to had exactly what they were looking for. "Diaval, I found it." Diava turned to her and looked to where she was looking. "Oh come on." he whined. "You think you can get it without waking the beast?" Maleficent asked. "I could try." Diaval said. He morphed into a raven and flew to the rock. He landed next to the flower and started to pull it with his beak. He pulled as hard as he could until the roots broke from the ground. Tiny pebbles rolled of the rock making a little noise. Diaval and Maleficent froze holding there breathes. The beast moved to another position not paying much mind to the noise. Diaval hopped away as quietly as possible and flew to Maleficent and landed on her shoulder, flower in beak. "That was close." she whispered. She walked of a good distance before Diaval morphed back to his human form. "Well, that was fun." he said smiling. Maleficent chuckled, grabbed his shirt and gave him a kiss. "I got scared." she admitted, hugging him. Diaval hugged her back and kissed her on the head. "We should head back." he said. "Yes of course. Our girls are waiting." Maleficent stepped back and spread her wings.
"Ready?" she asked. Diaval nodded and morphed into a raven. They flew off as fast as they could to reach the castle before it was too late. They arrived at the castle to a crying Arietta. "What's wrong?" Maleficent asked hugging her. "D-Dakot-ta." Arietta stuttered. "Diaval." Maleficent called. "Yea I got her." he said quickly, taking Arietta in his arms. Maleficent smiled and entered the room. "Did you get it?!" Dr. Haylan asked frantically. "Yes it's right here." Maleficent gave him the flower running up to Dakota. She was so pale, and you could barley see her breathe. She opened her eyes and looked at Maleficent. That hopeful light she had in her eyes was gone. She put up the weakest smile. "What took you so long." she said weakly. Maleficent's eyes were glazing up with tears. Diaval walked in the room having calmed Arietta. She ran over to her mother's side, laying her hands on the bed. "Hey squirt." Dakota said smiling weakly. Arietta smiled a little but still had some tears and a worried look for her sister. Diaval walked around too, "Hey." he said kneeling next to Maleficent. She had her hand on Dakota's, trying not to let any tears fall from her eyes. Aurora was with Philip crying her eyes out in their room. "It'll be okay Aurora, she'll make it, she's strong. You should be over there with them." he said rubbing her back. "I can't, I can't take seeing her like that. I'll just break all over again." Aurora cried. Back in the other room Dr. Haylan was going as fast as he could to make the medicine. He mixed some ingredients together in water and cut a petal of the lily and mixed it in with the liquid. 'Come on, can't you go any faster.' he thought. He looked back at the small family. 'They've done so much for us. I owe them my life.' he thought again. The liquid started to glow. "I got it!" he said happily, pouring the liquid in a cup. He ran to Dakota's side. "Here, drink, it'll be a little strong at first." he said. Maleficent helped Dakota sit taking the cup. "I should get sick more often if Imma be treated like a baby." Dakota smiled. Everyone chuckled, watching her take a sip. She swallowed, "Oh my God! What is that?" she said coughing. Dr. Haylan chuckled. "It's an old recipe they used back in my grandfathers time. You have to drink all of it in order for it to work." he said. "Goodie." Dakota said coughing and drinking all the liquid. After she finished she laid back down closing her eyes. "How long will it take?" Maleficent asked. "Well, it'll take a few seconds for it to kick in, but it'll take two to three hours before she's back on her feet." Dr. Haylan said. "Oh, the medicine makes you sleepy so she probably fell asleep already." he finished. Maleficent looked down at Dakota and started stroking her head. "Does this mean that Dakota will be okay mommy?" Arietta asked. "Yes little wing, yes." Maleficent said smiling. Arietta smiled a great big smile hearing that her sister would be alright. "I'll take my leave now. If anything changes I'll be a call away." Dr. Haylan said walking out the door. "Mommy, can we call Aurora now. She went to her room." Arietta said. "I'll go get her." Diaval said standing up. He walked out the room minutes later showing up with Aurora." She ran up to the bed crying with a smile. Maleficent hugged her for comfort. "I'm sorry Godmother, I wasn't there when you arrived. You two must be hungry." Aurora said sadly. "Don't worry beastie, it's ok, you needed some time." Maleficent said. "As for bieng hungry, I would not mind to get a bite." Diaval interrupted. Maleficent gave him a glare. He winked at her with a smile. She rolled her eyes but smiled anyways. "I had a lot of fruits yesterday, daddy." Arietta said smiling. "And you didn't save me some." Diaval said pouting. Arietta giggled hiding behind her mom. Maleficent smiled picking her up. "You are exactly like mommy." she said kissing her on the forehead. "You two should really get something to eat." Aurora said chuckling. She called in one of the maids to bring in some fruits and water. Diaval ended up feeding Maleficent grapes while her head was on his lap. Aurora and Arietta were sitting on the edge of the bed looking at them. "Are they going to kiss?" Arietta tried to whisper to Aurora. Maleficent overheard and choked on a grape and sat up. Aurora tried to hold in her laughter but failed when she ended up laughing. Arietta smiled and giggled in her own cute way. "You okay Mal?" Diaval asked chuckling her. "I'm fine." Maleficent answered clearing her throat. After two to three hours Dakota furrowed her eyebrows. She opened her eyes slowly and looked around. She saw Diaval and Maleficent sleeping on a sofa, Maleficent's head was on Diaval's shoulder while Diaval had his on hers. "Hey." she heard Aurora's voice come from her side. "How long was I out?" Dakota asked. "Three hours. They fell asleep a few minutes ago. Godmother choked on a grape." Aurora chuckled. Dakota laughed quietly, not wanting to wake her parents up. Then she felt something move on the other side of the bed. She turned to see Arietta rubbing her eyes. "Hey squirt." Dakota said smiling. "Dakota!" Arietta said jumping on her and giving her a hug. Dakota chuckled and hugged her back. "What else did I miss?" she asked. "Godmother and Diaval had small fight and ended up giggling. I don't what happened. I was completely lost." Aurora said. Dakota chuckled again sitting up. "God I'm hungry." she said putting her hand on her stomach. "Oh, I'll bring a maid over." Aurora said. After Dakota ate some meat water she started to walk around the room. She ended up outside in the balcony taking in the fresh air. She went back inside and waited for her parents to wake up. "I wonder what their reaction well be when they see me." She said to Aurora and Arietta. "I'm pretty sure they'll tackle you with a hug. Oh Dr. Haylan said that if you asked what healed you it was a lily called Althia." Aurora said. They continued waiting having little small talks and giggling after they said something funny. Soon Maleficent and Diaval would wake up very happy.
