The air smelt of fresh pollen. The spring air stuck to Charlie's glistening skin, sunlight glinting off the surface of deep blue ponds. The sun kissed his back as he knelt, picking flowers from a large patch of grass. He delicately picked some violets, drawn to its deep color. Birds chirped a strange song, their throaty noises attempting a harmony of the same song. Butterflies flitted through the air like a kaleidoscope, their vibrant colors drifting.

Spring was his favourite time of year. Its when every god seemed to be in sync, humming along to the same tune.

"They're... beautiful." He gaped, gingerly touched their stems. They lacked mars or bites, like insects avoided them. "They're perfect."

He sighed in delight. His mother would adore them.

However, what Charlie didn't know was that these beautiful flowers were actually narcissus: a flower made for him.
A trap.
Crafted by Rhea, the flowers were a gift into his new life.
A life that would never let his go.

As he pulled at the stems, the birds around him chirped louder. A warning.

Charlie heard a growl.

"Is that my stomach?" He glanced around, seeing nothing but tall grass. The air stilled.

Charlie felt a rumble, his knees stiffening.

"What the-"
