Her Perfect Distraction

Chapter 2

CHAPTER 2

It’s been 2 weeks since the second semester began and Yuri is on her way to her first class of the day.

Yuri entered the room and as usual, the noises of the chatting people quiet down as their attention was caught by the new girl. Yuri gave a small smile, sat down and waited for the professor to arrive

The chatting continued but became a bit uncomfortable for Yuri as she somehow sensed that she was being talked about, despite that, she just ignored it. Finally the professor came and classes started.

After a two-hour class, Yuri decided to go to the campus café as she has an hour of vacant time. She was about to leave the room when someone tapped her from behind

“Excuse me” A girl with long shoulder-length brown wavy hair smiled, “You’re new here aren’t you?”

It’s already been 2 weeks but since she’s still getting used to the place and because the class is quite big, Yuri hasn’t really gotten the chance to have a long conversation with anyone, until now

Yuri smiled, “Yeah, um, I’m Yuri, nice to meet you”

“Yuri? That’s a unique name” a male voice interjected, “It’s like an anime name”

Yuri turned and saw a guy a bit taller than her, with the same brown hair as the other girl but with blond streaks

“Nice to meet you too, I’m Kristen” the girl spoke, “and this is Toby, he’s my brother”

Toby waved and smiled

“Yeah, I can somewhat see some resemblance” Yuri replied, “um, do you guys need something or-”

“Yeah, we we’re wondering if you would like to go with us to “Simple Treats”, we’re meeting a friend there, maybe we could hang-out”

“Is that the café near the building of architecture?”

“That’s the one!” Toby answered

“I’m going there anyway so yeah, why not”

“Oh cool, let’s go then” Kristen said

On the way, Kristen and Toby made small talk until they reached the café. They entered and Toby instantly saw their close friend there waving at them

Yuri saw her and was surprised, same goes for the friend

“Summer?! You’re here!” Yuri exclaimed

Yuri was immediately hugged by Summer, “You too! It’s been a while” Summer said, “I missed you Yul!”

“I’m guessing you know each other?” Kristen interjected

Summer nodded, “we’re close high school buddies! But we’ve briefly lost contact since-”

Yuri placed her hand on Summer’s arm and shook her head a bit, signaling her to drop the topic

“Ever since what?” Kristen asked

“Nothing, oh hey, I already ordered some frappes, so let’s sit down and catch up”

The four of them sat, as the frappes were served to them

“I didn’t expect to see you here Summer, I thought your studying at St. Louis” Yuri spoke

“I was but I decided to transfer here last year but more importantly, how did these two manage to drag you here?” Summer spoku

“Well, honestly speaking, We asked her to hang out with us because Toby here somewhat gained interest in her” Kristen admitted “so he kinda wanted to get to know you better and maybe asked for your number”
