Why doesn't Kiba notice the way Shino looks at him?

Jealousy, no, not quite the word.

Shino would never hurt Naruto, knowing it'd hurt Gaara even more.
Even though him being with Naruto brings him more pain and sorrow.
As the leaves decay in the crunchy air.
As the smell of fresh grass, dew painting it slowly falls off the grass tips and into the dirt, making it slight mud.
As the cracks in the sideway seem a little more narrow;
his world changes.
It turns a different way.
Instead of slow, it goes fast.
Instead of steady, it turns in on itself.
As he lives each day, knowing Kiba will probably love the poor boy.
He gets more depressed.
To the unbearable point of questioning his existence.

Gaara was currently in front of Kiba's door.

A groggily response that he could make out as " I swear, these snitches" and a shirtless Kiba came out.
A sea of messy chocolate hair, tan toned skin now kissed by the sunrays, and layback attitude and eyes now focused accurately on Gaara.
Gaara looked him up and down-

then looks at Kiba with a non-existent eyebrow arched and a question to go along, " Did you jus get up? And who's the snitch?"
"Oh, yeah. And I don't know..." Kiba made a confused look at the end.
"But you said, 'I swear these snitches'-" Gaara made a face.
"Wha- Oh. I said my back itches." Kiba clarified.
"Oh."
"Yeah... Did you want something?"
"I was wondering..."
"Hmm?"
Gaara slightly blushed.
How exactly do I ask this guy to accompany us on the trip to Sungakure... without it sounding like a date, a vacation, or an invitation. Snobby mode.
"Oh pft, don't hmm me you mangy dog. I was just going to invite you to a 'trip' with the gang and all. you know, since you have no life." Gaara snorted
